About 1988 Jeep Wrangler
The 1988 Jeep Wrangler comes equipped with two engines, for power or for normal driving: the 2.5 liter I4 with 121 hp or the 4.2 liter I6, a 177 hp machine. Like its predecessor, the 1988 Jeep Wrangler has two available transmissions, a 3 speed automatic, or a 5 speed manual. Also like the 1987, the 1988 has two doors and four wheel drive, a true SUV for the off-roading fan. Complete with air conditioning and even (gasp!) a cassette player, the Jeep Wrangler has every comfort you could expect from a 1988 SUV. The second in the line of vehicles that lasted 20 years, the 1988 Jeep Wrangler continued the new tradition of an outstanding SUV. While the 1988s may not be in the greatest condition today, they helped to establish what would become a standard of the SUV world.
