Though the Lexus LX has been available in the US since the 1996 model year, 2025 marked the introduction of the first Lexus LX Hybrid. The LX sits in the full-size luxury SUV segment and competes primarily with the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS, and Land Rover Range Rover–all of which have mild-hybrid options. The Range Rover also offers a plug-in hybrid variant. For 2026, LX 700h trims will include the Overtrail, F Sport Handling, Luxury, and Ultra Luxury.

What’s New for the 2026 Lexus LX Hybrid
The 2026 Lexus LX Hybrid is part of the fourth-generation LX, which debuted for the 2022 model year. While the hybrid was all-new for the 2025 model year–and new to the LX lineup altogether-this full-size, body-on-frame hybrid shares a lot of the same sheet metal with its non-hybrid sibling. New and unique to the hybrid are the powertrain, the modified frame to accommodate the hybrid battery, a 2,400-watt AC inverter, and the off-road-focused Overtrail trim.
Design
The most distinctive design feature on the 2026 Lexus LX Hybrid is the large signature spindle grille, which sets the stage for the bold, upright stance for this large SUV. Standard 18-inch wheels are included on the base Overtrail trim, but 22-inch wheels are standard on all other trims. The exterior paint color palette is more subdued than flashy, and the Overtrail trim, along with its dark chrome exterior accents, gets an exclusive Earth exterior option. Both the F Sport Handling and Luxury trims offer appearance packages that include blacked-out exterior accents. If you are looking to tell this apart from the gasoline version, look for the 700h badging or the Overtrail trim, as those are exclusive to the 2026 LX Hybrid.
Powertrain
The powertrain for the all-wheel-drive (AWD) only 2026 Lexus LX Hybrid uses the same twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6 as its gasoline sibling, but it adds a hybrid system with an electric motor and battery. The combined output is 457 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. One of the more interesting things to note about this hybrid powertrain is that it’s the first one from Lexus that has both an alternator and a starter as standard components, which means that if the hybrid system is inoperative, the starter will enable engine ignition and you can drive the vehicle using only the engine. The hybrid powertrain is paired with a one–speed direct-shift automatic transmission. Even though the LX 700h is a hybrid, don’t expect it to bring in the big fuel economy numbers–this powertrain is more about power than efficiency. The LX Hybrid is estimated to get 19 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. Max towing capacity is 8,000 pounds.

Interior
The interior of the 2026 Lexus LX Hybrid goes from luxurious to ultra luxurious with semi-aniline leather seats and real wood trim. A moonroof is standard, but it’s of the normal variety–and no panoramic option is available. This full-size SUV comes with multiple seating configurations. The Overtrail, F Sport Handling, and Luxury trims comes standard with a seven-seat, three-row configuration, but the Overtrail also offers a five-seat, two-row configuration. The Ultra Luxury trim only comes as a four-seat, two row configuration. Depending on seating configuration, cargo space ranges from 7.23 cubic feet behind the third row up to 62.56 cubic feet of max capacity.
Technology
As a new model for 2026, the Lexus LX Hybrid has all the latest tech you can get in a Lexus vehicle. In addition to a digital gauge cluster and 12.3-inch touchscreen, you also have a 7-inch lower touchscreen, which provides climate and seat controls in addition to the Multi-Terrain Select system. The Lexus Interface infotainment system is standard, as are wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 2026 LX Hybrid has a number of subscription-based connected features, including cloud navigation, an intelligent assistant, and the ability to use your phone as a key. Other tech features you’ll see include a head-up display, wireless phone charger, Mark Levinson 25-speaker Premium Surround Sound System, and a 360-degree camera.
Safety
The 2026 Lexus LX Hybrid comes standard with the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, which includes standard safety features such as automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, road-sign assist, lane-departure alert, lane-trace assist, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Other standard safety features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a safe-exit alert, and an advanced parking system with remote park. Neither the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) nor the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has crash-tested the LX Hybrid, so there are no crash-test ratings for this model.

Pricing and Release Date
The 2026 Lexus LX Hybrid went on sale at the beginning of 2025. As of this writing, Lexus lists the base price for the LX 700h Overtrail at $116,685. The F Sport Handling and Luxury start at $118,950 and $120,950, respectively, and the LX 700h Ultra Luxury rings in at $142,450. Other than appearance packages, the only other big package option is the rear-seat entertainment available on the Luxury trim. With dual 11.4-inch screens, it's priced at $2,705.
