What’s New for the 2025 Volvo S60
The Volvo S60 is entering its final year of production in 2025, but the automaker gave the car a few updates, including power-folding headrests for the entry-level trim, a new Ultra trim, and a shift of availability for the Black Edition package. There were no major changes the previous model year.
Design
The S60 follows Volvo’s standard design language, with clean styling and very few logos and badges. It features the brand’s iconic “Thor’s hammer” LED daytime running lights, LED headlights, and LED taillights. Volvo offers a few wheel choices, including black options for the Black Edition package. While it’s the automaker’s smallest car, the S60 borrows elements from Volvo’s larger, more expensive models, giving it a more premium look.
Powertrain
Volvo offers one powertrain for the 2025 S60. It’s a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, making 247 horsepower and 258. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and either front- or all-wheel drive. While it lacks some of the complexity of Volvo’s other powertrains, including mild-hybrid, turbocharged, and supercharged engines, the S60 is more than fine for everyday driving and daily commuting. It’s not thrilling, but the car’s power delivery is smooth, and its powertrain feels refined in most situations. Gas mileage is solid, too, at up to 46 mpg on the highway with front-wheel drive.
Interior
Volvo consistently earns high marks for its interior design and quality, and the S60 is no exception. It comes standard with synthetic leather upholstery, a power driver’s seat, and more. Higher trims add heated front seats, genuine leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. Though small, the S60 is remarkably spacious inside, though it’s still best as a four-seater instead of squeezing to reach the advertised five-seat capacity.
Technology
The S60 comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other standard tech includes Bluetooth, voice commands, USB-C ports, and ten speakers. The car features Google Built-In, which brings a range of features, from Google Assistant to some Play Store functions.
Safety
The 2025 Volvo S60 hasn’t yet received full crash-test results from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), but it comes well-equipped with driver-assistance features. They includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, forward-collision warnings, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, rain-sensing wipers, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, and driver attention monitoring. Available features include adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera system, a head-up display, and more.
Pricing and Release Date
As of the time of this writing, the base 2025 Volvo S60 starts at $43,975. The midrange Plus trim costs $46,595, and the range-topping Ultra trim costs $51,495.
