Mercedes took a cautious approach to electrifying its lineup, opting to use its familiar model naming system to “rank” vehicles. The EQS sits at the top of the electric sedan catalog above the EQE, offering the highest-end finishes and materials available in the line.

What’s New for the 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS
The EQS sedan received a midcycle update for the 2025 model year, which brought new interior and exterior styling elements, revised regenerative braking for smoother operation, a new battery system, and updated standard features for all trims.
Design
The EQS sedan features a faint egg-shaped design with excellent aerodynamics and ultra-clean lines. Mercedes offers a range of wheel options, and some exterior appearance packages include dark trim and other accents.
Powertrain
Four electric powertrain options are available for the 2025 EQS sedan. The base configuration includes a single electric motor with rear-wheel drive, 355 horsepower and 419 pound-feet of torque. A dual-motor setup is available, making 355 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, and an uprated version is available with 536 horsepower and 633 pound-feet of torque. The range-topping powertrain uses two electric motors that make a combined 649 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque. Most EQS sedans come with all-wheel drive, and the quickest model offers a 3.4-second 0-60 mph time. The most efficient model is the EQS 450=, which offers 390 miles of range per full charge.

Interior
The five-seat EQS offers standard leather upholstery, power front seat adjustments, heated and ventilated front seats, and more. More expensive trims add Nappa leather, a heated steering wheel, massaging front seats, sport seats, heated and ventilated front seats, and more. Front passengers enjoy plenty of space and deep, nicely supportive buckets with good ergonomics, the back bench is a bit less accommodating, especially for taller adults. The EQS’ sloping roof cuts into rear headroom, making it harder to fit taller people in the back.
Technology
Mercedes equips its Hyperscreen system, which brings a 17.7-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are on board by default, along with voice commands, a Burmester audio system, wireless charging, an augmented reality navigation system, LED ambient interior lighting, and more. The MBUX infotainment system is one of the more feature-rich interfaces on the market, but it can be overwhelming at first due to the myriad of options and features.
Safety
The new EQS hasn’t been tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, but it gets a long list of standard driver-assistance features. They include adaptive cruise control with stop and go, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, traffic-sign recognition, lane-keep assist, lane-departure alert, parking sensors, a rearview camera, rain-sensing wipers, pedestrian detection, and more.

Pricing and Release Date
As of the time of this writing, the base 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS starts at $104,400. At the top of the lineup, the AMG EQS Sedan starts at $147,550, and all models are available with options and packages that can quickly drive the prices higher.
