What’s New for the 2025 Buick Encore GX

As the Buick Encore GX was significantly refreshed in 2023, there isn’t much new for 2025. You do have a new Aquamarine Blue Metallic paint available on the Sport Touring trim, and Sunrise Red Metallic has been discontinued. You also have some new Santorini Blue interior accents available on the Sport Touring black interior. Other than that, remote start is now standard on all trims, and the 1.2-liter engine is now flex-fuel (E85) capable.

Design

The exterior design of the 2025 Buick Encore GX is fairly standard from the side, but the front is punctuated by a pointy nose and Buick’s new signature checkmark LED headlights. The Encore GX comes standard with 18-inch wheels, and 19s are available. Other than the Black Roof Package on the Sport Touring trim, there are no exterior appearance packages of note.

Powertrain

The base engine for the 2025 Buick Encore GX is a 137-horsepower, 1.2-liter turbo. It is standard on the base Preferred trim. The 155-hp 1.3-liter turbo is available on the Preferred trim and standard on Sport Touring and Avenir. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard on all trims with all-wheel drive (AWD) being available for $1,600. AWD is only available with the 1.3-liter engine. FWD models will get an EPA-estimated 30 mpg in combined driving, while AWD models average 27 mpg. This subcompact SUV does have a small towing capacity of 1,000 pounds when equipped with the Trailering Package.

Interior

The interior of the 2025 Buick Encore GX cashes in on the big-screen trend with a standard 11-inch high-definition infotainment screen, but it still has buttons and dials for audio and HVAC controls. Cloth seats are standard, but leveling up unlocks leatherette and leather seating surfaces. Available features include dual automatic climate control, heated front seats and steering wheel, and a hands-free power liftgate. The Encore GX seats five, though the back seat will be tight for three–unless you’re only putting small children back there. Cargo space is generous for a subcombact SUV, with 23.5 cubic feet behind the second row and 50.2 cubic feet behind the first row. Though the Encore GX does not have a standard sunroof, a panoramic moonroof is available on upper trims.

Technology

In addition to the large infotainment touchscreen, the 2025 Buick Encore GX has a standard 8-inch digital gauge cluster and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. While a six-speaker audio system is standard, an up-level seven-speaker Bose premium audio system is offered on the two higher trims. Available tech features include wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, XM Satellite radio, and a rear camera mirror. The Encore GX is also Wi-Fi hotspot capable with a subscription fee.

Safety

The 2025 Buick Encore GX has a suite of standard safety features that includes automatic emergency braking, a feature that requires you to hook your seatbelt before shifting into drive, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. One of the more interesting standard safety features is Teen Driver, which provides an in-vehicle report card to parents and mutes audio until front-seat passengers fasten seatbelts. Available safety features include a 360-degree camera view, rear parking sensors, and adaptive cruise control.
