Plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) bridge the gap between traditional hybrids and full-on electric vehicles (EVs), offering electric range with a gas engine for backup. The long-running Audi Q5 is available with a PHEV powertrain, bringing a considerable boost to fuel economy. Additionally, the electric motor makes the SUV feel quicker and sportier than its gas-only counterparts.

What’s New for the 2025 Audi Q5 Hybrid Plug-In
Audi gave the Q5 PHEV more standard features and available packages for 2025. The SUV now features Homelink garage door opener buttons built into the rearview mirror, and the Black Optic package has new available wheel designs.
Design
The Q5 PHEV’s design mirrors that of the standard model. It features a large grille, and some variants add tasteful chrome trim. Several wheel designs are available, including new options offered with the updated Black Optic package. Top trims get large 20-inch wheels, and Audi offers several color choices, including many added-cost premium options.
Powertrain
The Q5 plug-in hybrid pairs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. The system makes a combined 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, which reaches all four wheels through a dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Audi quotes a five-second zero-60-mph time and a 23-mile all-electric range. The SUV offers up to 390 miles of range combining gas and electric powertrain systems. Charging takes approximately three hours on a 240-volt household outlet, though a faster public charger could significantly shorten that timeframe.
Interior
The Q5 PHEV seats five on standard leather upholstery. Other standard features include heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and more. Higher trims get ventilated front seats and heated rear seats. While the front buckets are wide and supportive, offering a good amount of space, the rear isn’t as accommodating. That said, the Q5 PHEV is more comfortable in the back than the gas-powered Q5 Sportback, which trades some of its interior space for a more stylish exterior.
Technology
The 2025 Q5 PHEV comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen running Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Bluetooth, HD radio, multiple USB inputs, and more are standard. Audi’s digital gauge cluster is highly configurable, offering views of maps, vehicle performance data, media information, and more. The PHEV model gets the feature as standard, while other Q5 variants require a step up in trim or options packages.
Safety
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not yet tested the 2025 Q5 as of this writing, but the previous model year earned a Top Safety Pick award. Audi equips several advanced driver aids as standard, including lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Buyers can add a head-up display, a semi-automated parking-assistance system, and a surround-view camera.
Pricing and Release Date
As of the time of this writing, the 2025 Audi Q5 PHEV starts at $58,500. The mid-range Premium Plus trim costs $63,300, and the range-topping Prestige model starts at $66,700.
