The CarGurus verdict
With the all-new 2022 Taos, Volkswagen grows its crossover SUV family to four members, covering almost every segment with models offering more space, comfort, and utility than the competition.
Car companies are becoming SUV companies. People want crossovers, and automakers are fleshing out their lineups to meet customer demand. One of the latest new models to join the mix is the 2022 Volkswagen Taos. Bigger than most small SUVs but smaller than most compact SUVs, the Taos is a tweener that should prove appealing to people seeking space and utility at an affordable price.

What owners say
"Overall, owners of the 2022 Volkswagen Taos have a positive impression, particularly enjoying its roomy interior, excellent gas mileage, and peppy performance around town. Many appreciate the quality and handling, likening it to more expensive vehicles. However, some drivers have reported issues with underwhelming power, noisy tires, and a few missing features such as an electric passenger seat and trunk access via the key fob."
Excellent value for the money the car rides and handles like a expensive German car.
August 4, 2023After few years with a VW Tiguan I bought me an Atlas , the first a good car , the second even better then I bought a Taos, big mistake. The Taos brakes are not as good as the Volkswagen family, also the suspension isn’t as good as the others Volkswagen, even Jetta has a better suspension than Taos . I end up trading in the Taos for an VW Atlas.
May 16, 2023Amazing car. Not too big, not too small. Takes a little to get used to but its good so far.

February 7, 2023This vehicle is peppy around town but also quite comfortable for long trips (with an excellent 400mi range). The factory-equipped tires are noisy, but Ill use them up before replacing them with a quieter set.
December 3, 2022I purchased the 2022 VW Taos SE with Sunroof. This car has all the features Ive been looking for in a vehicle. Heated seats , Android auto , push to start and everything is digital. Theres two things I dont like and 1) The passenger seat isnt electric and 2) The trunk doesnt open with the trunk button on the key fob(only unlocks the trunk). Aside from that everything is phenomenal including gas mileage. Head space is fantastic and Im 61. Glad I purchased this vehicle
February 23, 2022Great car! My wife loves it, Fairly roomy and very fun to drive!
June 8, 2022very roomy storage. EXCELLENT pickup for a 4 cylinder engine and smooth ride
March 7, 2024Great small SUV, style and quality very appealing. But under powered, transmission shifted quickly and often to make up for the lack of power. This assessment after two test drives.
