Met my expectations exactly. I already own a 2017 RF GT and enjoy it immensely, but was looking for just a little more performance. So for me this is an inexpensive part-time toy that I can use as a daily driver. See my first sentence above. To my mind the MX-5 was already brilliant, but I believe Mazda have really nailed it with this particular model (Club trim, Recaro/BBS) as a stock sports car. The increased horsepower and torque are noticeable and welcome, but still don’t overwhelm the chassis—I think they have finally hit the sweet spot on power/weight with this version. The handling is just crisp enough for a car you can drive right out of the dealership and into the canyons, and the balance remains quintessential Miata. We all know you can upgrade this car endlessly and there have been a gazillion really cool cars created by this process. (I also have an NA that my son has tinkered with to create just such.) But THIS car, as is from the dealer floor, is EXACTLY as I wish it to be. Already done our first of many anticipated canyon excursions, and I defy ANYONE to slap this smile off my face. I cannot recommend this car emphatically enough for a toy you can use as a daily.

Great looks, Fun to drive. No space. Good mileage. Nice sound. Great shifter. Challenging video control system. Nothing really compares in this price range for a sports car convertible. I guess Fiat 124 which I did not look at. Usually Japanese quality is a plus

2020 Mazda MX-5 Miata Club RWD Review
pjgaecke says:
While lacking in power, this car makes up for it in spades with personality. The first time you take it around a cloverleaf entrance/exit ramp the feedback through the car is overwhelming compared to any other modern vehicle I have driven. The shift feel (manual) is excellent and for a convertible this car has little chassis flex despite the stiffer than usual ride. This is a drivers car. If you want a fun experience with great road feedback and an excellent shift feel, you will enjoy this car. It is for the person who wants to row through their own gears and likely does autocross or track days on the weekend. If you want straight line speed between stop lights and a plush driving experience you will be disappointed.

Power Ranked 2013 Ford Mustang GT Premium Convertible RWD better.
"V8 with 420hp vs I4 with 181hp. The Mustang has lots of low end torque while the Miata requires you to wind it out to get to the power."
Handling Ranked 2013 Ford Mustang GT Premium Convertible RWD worse.
"Miata has better engineered front and rear independent suspension. The car is also designed to have neutral stability causing it to rotate around the driver and be easily controllable. Mustang has rental car spec suspension and a live rear axle. The weight distribution is not evenly split front to rear. It also lacks the chassis stiffness of the Miata."
Looks/Style Ranked 2013 Ford Mustang GT Premium Convertible RWD worse.
"It is designed as a convertible. The Mustang is modified from a coupe and has a set of rear seats stretching it out."
Front Seats Ranked 2013 Ford Mustang GT Premium Convertible RWD worse.
"Much more supportive and designed around a smaller person."
Back Seats Ranked 2013 Ford Mustang GT Premium Convertible RWD better.
"There are no rear seats in the Miata."
Cargo Capacity Ranked 2013 Ford Mustang GT Premium Convertible RWD better.
"It has rear seats in addition to a trunk."
Family Car Ranked 2013 Ford Mustang GT Premium Convertible RWD better.
"There are no rear seats in the Miata."
Value Ranked 2013 Ford Mustang GT Premium Convertible RWD worse.
"Better suspension. Better Chassis. Excellent engine characteristics (free revving, no rev hang, easy to rev match downshift, great power delivery) despite lack of power. Neutral handling. Better shifter. Easier to operate convertible top. Incredible gas mileage compared to the V8 (35 average vs 14 average)."
Would Buy Ranked 2013 Ford Mustang GT Premium Convertible RWD worse.
"Better drivers car. Cheaper insurance. Cheaper gas. "
