2018 Mazda CX-5 Reviews, Pricing & Specs

Expert review
The 2018 Mazda CX-5 compact crossover SUV delivers plenty of style, sophistication and substance.
Mazda wants to move into the same premium product territory currently occupied by Acura, Buick, MINI, Volkswagen and, increasingly, Kia. To support this move, Mazda is launching a new “Feel Alive” marketing campaign, which the company says is a fan-focused effort that describes how the automaker’s cars and SUVs make you feel.
I’m a Mazda owner and fan. And I can attest that Mazdas do make you “feel alive”—if that relates to having a good time while you’re behind the wheel. Does the 2018 CX-5, Mazda’s compact crossover SUV and one of its best-selling models, do that?
Yes, it does. And with a few tweaks, it would be worthy of premium status.

What owners say
"Overall, owners of the 2018 Mazda CX-5 appreciate its smooth ride, great features, and the stylish interior. They particularly like the safety features and performance on the road. However, some drivers wish it had a larger cabin space and have noted issues like paint flaking on certain colors."
Its an amazing vehicle over all. Reliability is amazing, premium features are amazing, sport mode really kicks in nicely but it's quiet which feels very premium. Not a gas puzzler either. I only wish I had the remote start and android auto installed.
June 13, 2025We like the ccs 5 grand touring models but are wary of all the add ons during the paperwork. It seems like most are over priced for the amount of miles and age. But what isn’t in this area since the California invasion.
January 7, 2026Its good for local commuting, and no compares to the CX-9

November 5, 2024Great value. Would give 5 stars on all categories. Acceleration is adequate but not impressive 3.5 stars. Cargo space is a little tighter than competitors but more than adequate 4 stars. Hits 5 stars on all other categories. Super riding and handling vehicle for this class. HIGHLY recommend.
May 25, 2022The Touring is beautiful, smooth and has great features. Love it!
April 8, 2021Good Value? No, NO, badly overpriced, but then so are just about all available used cars today in March 2023. FWIW, IMHO, probably the best of the lot of 2018 - 2019 SUVs, according to both me & Consumer Reports. If youre willing to spend $20 - $22K for a five-year old SUV & willing to check it out carefully, this just may be the best choice available. GOOD LUCK!
March 22, 2023Love the Mazda CX-5 grand touring. High quality features, nicer look than many of the vehicles in this class and price is right.
December 23, 2022Its one of the last small suvs fully assembled in Japan. The build quality is tight. No rattles, shakes or squeaks. Cabin is quiet and the ride is ultra smooth. Definitely satisfied with my purchase!!!
April 3, 2022Love the vehicle - the driving ability, handling, styling, and looks and design. Also, the model we purchased was well equipped with many features.
November 21, 2021Love the adaptive cruise control, lane assist and the speaker system is awesome!
