2015 Mazda CX-5 Touring Review
says:
A very sporty crossover with great handling and acceleration for a 4-banger. An ideal choice for commuters who want something with a little more umph than a RAV-4 or CR-V. The base models are decently equipped, but you can get leather, nav and the like for not much more money in the GT trim. I enjoyed driving this car and would have considered buying it had the front seat not been smaller than I thought I could live with.

Back Seats Ranked 2014 BMW X1 better.
"A little more comfortable and supportive. The overall quality of the seats in the X1, as in all BMWs, is very good. The Mazdas cabin is smaller."
Value Ranked 2014 BMW X1 worse.
"Cheaper to buy and to maintain. Also, the Mazda takes regular gas vs. premium for the Bimmer. Insurance rates are a good bit lower as well. Theres nothing cheap about owning a Bavarian model."

"It is a better vehicle in almost every way. If cargo room is your only priority then the Rogue would be a good choice."

2015 Mazda CX-5 Review
says:
Just a few weeks in, and its already my favorite car of all time. Only way it could lose that distinction is if it proves to be unreliable long-term, but CR rates 2015s as well above average in that area, so Im hopeful it will be low maintenance. Steering, braking very responsive. Acceleration a little less so, but quick enough. Very comfortable ride, decent on gas for an SUV, and fit and finish very good. Controls are intuitive and simple.

Would have loved to buy this but back seats too shallow for young child (rear facing) carseats and truck not much bigger than our 2003 protege5.

Power Ranked 2015 Nissan Rogue SL AWD worse.
"CVT transmission is just strange under hard acceleration from low speeds. I didnt think I cared about 0-60 but it makes a difference on a highway on ramp. Mazda was better. CVT was plenty powerful and responsive at higher speeds. "
Back Seats Ranked 2015 Nissan Rogue SL AWD better.
"Nissan rogue has a little bit more depth front to back (60/40 split seats) and they are on rails so give you several inches of play to create more space in the second row or more space in the cargo area. And they are a little wider across the back such that an adult could fit with two carseats installed."
Cargo Capacity Ranked 2015 Nissan Rogue SL AWD better.
"There are shelves in the back that can be adjusted to better use the vertical space in the cargo hold. Also second row slides to create more space. The cargo cover flops around, not like the cx 5 which more nicely attaches to the hatch."

Looks/Style Ranked 2015 Subaru Outback 2.5i better.
"I prefer wagon vs SUV styling. I also think the lines are cleaner on the Outback vs the 2015 CX-5. The 2017+ CX-5 looks better than either car in my opinion"
Would Buy Ranked 2015 Subaru Outback 2.5i worse.
"After living with the outback for 4 years, it is just to painfully sluggish and boring to drive. If I had it to do over again I would have purchased the CX-5 and bought a cargo box for trips if I needed the extra storage space. It is/was just that much more enjoyable to drive. "
