I just bought my first MINI, a 2012 base model with 76000 miles in pepper white. This car was very well kept for its age and I had seen many that werent. It has many things you wouldnt expect for the price point, like ambient lighting, basic technology like bluetooth, radio, and aux. There are some things that are a bit of a learning curve like the switches for the window located in the middle and uniquely layed out controls, but all of this is expected with a non American car and in my opinion makes it special. One thing I heard a lot was that sound system without the updated Harman kardon was muddy and awful. I dont think this is true. Its pretty decent in my opinion and I had bose in my last car, just dont expect it to blow your socks off. The base model without turbo doesnt have a ton of power, which is a given, but with the car being light it is pretty peppy. The sport mode also makes a big difference and allows smooth transition. It also takes tight turns and winding roads like a champ. The turn radius on the thing is awesome. If youre looking for a fun car with decent mpg and nice looks this is the one.

The car looked good, but had a number of service lights on and the suspension rattled on all 4 corners. It was going to require a lot of work to make it right.

I only looked at Mini Coopers. Prices have been reasonable on the market. The car I bought seems to have been really well maintained, milage is a little higher than I wanted but preferred a one-owner vehicle. So far no regrets.

Fun car to drive. Sits low and ride is a bit rough. Power is so-so.

Handling Ranked 2012 Volkswagen Beetle better.
"Much better handling than the Mini Cooper. VW has a solid, secure feel while driving. Mini is fun, but you never feel entirely safe while driving it. In the Mini you always feel like you would be dead if you got hit. The VW feels solid and safe."
Value Ranked 2012 Volkswagen Beetle better.
"Better ride and handling. Much better interior room. Same retro look with enameled dashboard. Roomy back seat, ample cargo under hatchback. Excellent MPG has exceeded EPA estimate since new. No mechanical issues ever."

My Car Is A Cheeky Evil Villian And I'm His Sidekick Along For The Ride. — Parking powers are undeniable. The R56 fits where most cars do not. Fast and agile, this car is a nimble traffic blaster. You have the turning radius and acceleration of a God (Legendary go-kart handling), making you able to jet into tight spaces moving lane to lane. The braking on this car is impressive, just be aware that the car behind you more than likely does not have the same capabilities you do, so make sure there is a good car length behind you. I wouldn't trade this car in for anything on the market. He is my beautiful boo.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Small car, great for the city. 4 cylinder twin turbo; fuel efficiency when you need it, power when you want it. I have heated Ricaro seats, enough said. Dual panoramic sunroof is the bomb. Throaty exaust is standard. Harmon Kardon, again, enough said.

Cons: I feel sad for those out there who don't know the pleasure of MINI Ownership.

I Love It — I really liked how well it does on fuel, it take me about $40 to fill it up and it will last me quite awhile. I didn't like that you can only run Chevron premium fuel in it.. I overall loved this car

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: It's fun to drive, it goes fast, it gets awesome gas mileage

Cons: It's not spacious for people in the back seat and there isn't a lot of space to put things in the trunk

Overall A Great Bang For Your Buck — With the clean body lines, aggressive handling, and a turbocharger that kicks you in the rear its hard not to love this car. Can definitely be harsh on speed bumps and doesn't get outstanding gas mileage but at the end of the day it does the job and then some.

Pros: Very exciting ride, handles amazingly and the turbo kicks in beautifully.

Cons: Less fuel efficiency than expected, rear seat needs just 3 inches more

Love My Mini!!!!!! — Love this car - brakes are amazing (ABS of course), handling is amazing (DSC - Dynamic Stability Control - incorporates Corner Brake Control, Brake force distribution, ABS etc), performance is good, although the Cooper S does give a brilliant kick. Included is a full maintenance plan, so there are no repair/servicing costs. Small fuel tank, 40l, but it gets you very far... if you like to be noticed, then this is definitely the car for you!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: LOVE IT!!!!

Cons: There is nothing that I hate about this car.... its MINItastic!!!!
