Anyone know of recalls for door latches on Kia Sorento's ??
Have to have my fourth door latch replaced this week. Anyone having this problem?

All new for 2011, the redesigned Kia Sorento reflects the ever-improving dynamics and build quality offered by this Korean automaker. Each new Kia, it seems, is light years ahead of its predecessor, and the 2011 Sorento is no exception. Designed expressly for the North American market, the new Sorento is the first Kia built at the company’s new U.S. assembly plant in Georgia. Built on a car-based unit body platform, the 2011 Sorento is ready to provide some stiff competition in the mainstream crossover market.
Sized somewhere between Toyota’s popular RAV4 and Highlander, the 2011 Kia Sorento is a midsize crossover SUV with five doors. Three trim levels are available (Base, LX, and EX), and the Sorento offers four- or six-cylinder power. While its exterior styling won’t necessarily turn heads, the 2011 Sorento at least has a pleasant, integrated look, with standard alloy wheels and subtle chrome accents.
Base Sorentos seat 5 passengers, while LX and EX trims offer an optional third-row seat that expands capacity to 7. Overall interior space is good, with plenty of elbow room and a large cargo area. The optional third row basically eliminates the cargo space and doesn’t really provide that much seating flexibility, because it’s tight for all but the youngest passengers.
The new, modern chassis is a welcome change from the outgoing Sorento’s truck-like ladder frame and pays huge dividends in ride comfort and overall smoothness. The 2011 Sorento has the buttery driving dynamics and car-like ride that today’s buyer desires. The new platform is also commendably stiff, with excellent vibration damping. The steering is light, and the Sorento handles confidently, with reasonably well-controlled body roll and a secure feel in emergency maneuvers.
For 2011 Base and LX Sorentos have a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 175 hp and 169 lb-ft of torque. The big four revs willingly and makes pleasant noises, but is ultimately overwhelmed by the Sorento’s 3,600-pound curb weight. A six-speed manual transmission is standard and does its best to enliven things. Most buyers will likely select the optional automatic transmission, which, despite shifting smoothly through its six gears, contributes to the overall sluggish feeling of the four-cylinder Sorento. Optional in the top-line EX is a punchy, 3.5-liter V6 that delivers a robust 276 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque. This smooth engine is mated only to the six-speed automatic and greatly improves the little SUV’s acceleration and passing power.
Inside the 2011 Sorento you’ll find an interior that is exceptionally well fitted, another indication of how competitive Kia has become. The dash design breaks no new ground but is quite ergonomically friendly and has a modern (if slightly derivative) look. The plastics are high quality and have an expensive texture, though the monochrome color scheme could be a bit livelier. Base Sorentos are quite well equipped, with standard air conditioning, power features, and even Bluetooth. LX trim levels feature an auto up/down driver's window, power heated mirrors, and optional rear-view camera. The top-line EX offers a standard power driver's seat, dual-zone climate control, and push-button keyless start.
Overall the 2011 Sorento has vaulted Kia to the front of the midsize crossover class. The chassis and engineering package are impressively well thought out, and the Sorento drives as well as (if not better than) its highly regarded competition. Styling aside (let’s face it, not many other crossovers get the blood pumping), the new Sorento shows that Kia’s products are now on an even playing field with those from Honda and Toyota, yet still priced very competitively. While not quite as inexpensive as they once were, Kia’s products always undercut the competition significantly. In the past the value Kia offered was offset by cars and trucks that were slightly unrefined. Now with the new Sorento, the Korean automaker has finally provided a world-class vehicle that is still a great value.

Started with a lease of the 2011 Kia Sorento. Was looking for a safe Kia Sorento for my daughter to use in college in New England. This model is great in snow and has a very tight turning radius. Didnt get many options as I was looking for a base model under $25K. I ended up buying out the lease and still like to drive it. Just came back from a 3,000 mile road trip with it and even though I have back problems. I found it comfortable to drive for long periods of time.Mar 03, 2023

For the price, this car is a great value. Solid car, good driving experience, and a lot of features for the price. Used car shoppers have the advantage that Kia still depreciates more than rivals like Honda or Toyota, and has similar quality and reliability by this point in time. Best SUV we've owned. Others we've owned are Honda Pilot and Dodge Durango. The Sorento blows them away in power and fuel economy. Plus the warranty is way better. The panoramic sunroof rocks, bluetooth connectivity is great to have for hands-free phone use. The stereo system is excellent. Very durable and reliable vehicle.Apr 17, 2015

This Kia is a good quality vehicle. The cons out weigh the pros in my situation. You will get tired of this SUV real quick if you travel with a family of 3 or more point blank. The third row seat is a excellent accommodation but, space is limited. When both 3rd row seats are occupied resulting in zero space for packing items via the trunk. I'm now in search for a bigger SUV like GMC or Chevy. On the positive side, if I was single I'd be flying up and down the highway every chance I get due to the V6 power. The transition from automatic to manual at anytime is flawless and exiting especially going up hill and provides great feedback & control in traffic. Keep the oil change up or you will experience random jerking in manual model in 4th and 5th gear. A recall on the lighting system brakes and head lamps burning out. ( Commuter to work Family vehicle)

Seating is comfortable with the lumbar support and the heat
Acceleration was surprisingly good
Driving in snow does outstanding with the differential lock option
Great looking front end style and the Dark Cherry color makes this SX look good
Handling is a bit stiff but for a 4 wheel drive -- normal

2.4L not bad for acceleration for a relaxed driver but aggressive after you pump a gas.
6 speed sportsmatic gives a choice of preference for a specific needs. When Im on rush I can select into electronic manual for fast acceleration and manuevering. Otherwise, I can use my cruise control for much more relaxing drive.
Quality is awsome in and out. Seems like KIA is on a real world of COMPETETION. The design as well as the technology merge on the right timing. KOREAN architecture + European perspective + American worksmanship makes this vehicle have an edge for a new level of KIA generation.
Appearance is competetive...not too big nor small with decent angles and shapes.
It cost much cheaper than CR-V and Highlander with the same FEATURES! Let's say a matter of USD 5,000.00 with 60,000 miles bumper to bumper + 100,000 miles powertrain warranties.
A 50.00 USD full tank and it run 300miles and more. Maintenance under the dealership for 100,000 miles it brings a lot of value so far.
Roomy and quite cabin with bluetooth and satellite on board bring much more exciting!

Excellent quality, many items that are optional elsewhere are standard equipment in the 2011 Sorento.
Handling is good, braking excellent with the stability package. Ours is an I-4 with the 6 spd auto and third seat. Acceleration is good and fuel economy seems good also with 600 mi on the clock--20 mpg in suburban and city driving with no trips yet. I expect that on a road trip it will exceed the 28 mpg EPA rating.
This is a comfortable, good looking SUV with a lot going for it. Don forget the warranty!
We live in Maine and drive our cars and trucks into the ground, kept the last SUV for 9 yrs and 130,000 mi. I looked at all of them and chose the Sorento. Expect that it will last and be reliable for a long time. Recommend it to anyone who needs AWD and elbow room.Mar 01, 2010

Within the last two months, both of my front headrests have now broken off. There are no children, pets or adults abusing them. The passenger side barely gets used. I have not been in an accident. Is there anyone else experiencing a similar problem?
