This eight-passenger midsize crossover is delivered with standard 17-inch steel wheels, cloth upholstery, three rows of seating, reclining second-row seats, power accessories, cruise control, telescoping tilt-wheel steering, OnStar communications and navigation, front and rear air conditioning, and a single-CD player with six speakers and XM satellite radio. Meanwhile, options include a trailer towing package, power-adjustable driver’s seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and Bluetooth communications technology. Oh, and it also packs 116 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded, best in its class.
Considered among the safest mini-‘utes in its class, the 2011 Traverse LS boasts four-wheel ABS, traction and stability control, front side-mounted airbags, remote anti-theft alarm, daytime running lights, OnStar emergency notification, and a post-collision safety system.
A 3.6-liter, variable-valve-timed (VVT) V6 powers the 2011 Traverse LS, while a six-speed auto-manual transmission ensures 281 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. Towing is maxed out at some 5,200 pounds, and gas mileage is estimated at 17/24 mpg.

As its name implies, the eight-passenger 2011 Chevrolet Traverse LS AWD midsize crossover features traction-friendly all-wheel drive (AWD). Packing all the bells and whistles of its front-wheel-drive (FWD) sibling, this eight-passenger mini-‘ute uses a mechanical, center-mounted limited-slip differential to provide power to all four wheels, all the time. Needless to say, all options and safety features also mirror those of the FWD LS, including 116 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded.
The 2011 LS AWD packs the ubiquitous 281-hp 3.6-liter V6 engine and six-speed auto-manual transmission. This matchup nets some 266 lb-ft of torque that’s good enough to tow up to 5,200 pounds of trailer with the available tow package. The EPA, meantime, estimates 16/23 mpg.

With the addition of a few more features, behold the front-wheel-drive (FWD) mid-level 2011 Chevrolet Traverse LT1. This front-wheel-drive, eight-passenger, midsize crossover comes with such extra doo-dads as 18-inch alloy wheels, a trip computer, power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated outside mirrors, steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, as well as outside mirrors configured to reduce blind spots. Of course, 116 cubic feet of cargo space (with the rear seats folded) is also standard. Additional options include rear-seat DVD entertainment, a power sunroof, rear-view camera, second-row captain’s chairs, universal remote garage door opener, and remote engine start. Safety-wise, the LT1 features turn-signal-integrated mirrors and available rear parking sensors in addition to the standard equipment found in the LS trims.
As with its LS brethren, the 2011 Traverse LT1 packs a 281-hp, 266-lb-ft/torque 3.6-liter variable-valve-timed (VVT) V6 and its accompanying six-speed auto-manual transmission. When properly equipped, up to 5,200 pounds of towing capacity can be expected with this capable drivetrain, as can 17/24 mpg.

Like its LT brethren, the LTZ is available with optional rear-seat DVD entertainment, a power sunroof, and touch-screen DVD navigation.
The traditional 3.6-liter variable-valve-timed (VVT) V6 in the 2011 Chevy Traverse LTZ has been tweaked for an additional 7 horses (to 288 hp). Though standing pat with the standard six-speed auto-manual transmission, torque in the LTZ trim level is nevertheless boosted to 270 lb-ft, though trailer-towing capacity remains 5,200 pounds. Gas mileage, meanwhile, remains at 17/24 mpg.
