The one negative I see is the engine is a bit underpowered at first. Bring it up to 60mph and it behaves like a jeep. Second, the rear camber cannot be adjusted so you would have to add adjustable control arms.

Great Car - Fun To Drive Around Town — The Patriot is a well built vehicle, with classic Jeep style, that handles well, accelerates well, and was an overall great car to have. Used the vehicle mostly on weekends and family trips because it had ample cargo space, and got good gas mileage. The manual transmission is easy to work, and has hillside starting assist, which basically gives you about 3-5 seconds to get going when you are on a hill before it starts to roll backwards. Makes starting on a hill very easy.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: The Jeep Patriot has good space in the back for cargo, as well as comfortable interior seating.  With the FWD & Manual Transmission, it has a lot of peppiness when accelerating, and gets very good gas mileage.  Very little repair costs needed.

Cons: When taking a family trip (suitcases in the back, and 4 people in the car), the smaller engine lacks the power to maintain 65mph on hills.  It does great in flat areas (i.e. Virginia & Delaware), but when we got into some hills in PA, the engine struggled.

Good Sporty Reliable Car — Handles well in all weather conditions. It is a 4x4. Great gas mileage for a SUV. Great car and gets you where you need to go. It is a fun car to drive! I feel safe driving my family around. Nice acceleration and great braking.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Reliable, great car

Cons: compact for a suv

Well Put Together — I enjoyed the car, handles well, safe, lots of room, heated seats. The truck space is large and the backseats also fold down to create more room which allows you to move more effortlessly. It is an automatic that can also run as a manual.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Well put together

Cons: Not sure, I enjoyed it

Jeep Patriot - Excellent Budget Vehicle — Excellent vehicle. Power is limited by it's 4 Cylinders but otherwise a great vehicle. On my version the suspension is too low for offroading but the next model up is trail rated and has a higher suspension. All in All an excellent car.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Excellent Vehicle

Cons: Only has 4 Cylinders but thats why its affordable and cheap on gas.

This Is A Good Little Crossover. — The Jeep Patriot combines small car dimensions and fuel thriftiness with an SUV stance. Mine has the 2.4L GEMA engine and CVT. The CVT is better than the first gen units, but still has issues. Step on the gas and you'll remember you are driving a 4 cylinder. Otherwise the engine is fairly quiet. Ride is good, but handling is "twitchy" when quick inputs are made. Build quality is good, the interior is FAR better than the first versions of the Patriot, but the doors are tinny sounding when closed. The Patriot FWD returns about 24 mpg all around, 29 on the highway. It had to have the tranny replaced due to a leak, under warranty. The autostick makes this a fun vehicle to drive.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: If you want SUV looks and ride without needing heavy towing or off-road capability, this is a good car.

Cons: Build quality is still lacking, I would look to newer versions.

If You Need An Suv And Need Afordable Room And Fuel Economy, This Is A Car For You. — Preformance is not a good topic. Acceleration is low, but its an inline four, so what can you expect? braking is good on road and dirt in dry conditions. brakes alright in the snow and once the brakes get dry, rain isn't a problem. it handles better than the other SUVs that i've driven, but that doesn't say much. Build quality is good, no squeaks or rust, the only noise i'd like to get rid of is the wet brake squeak, but you have it with any car. Appearance is above normal, interior is great, as well as outside body. the only thing i could ask for is, maybe a sun/moon roof. Gas mileage, being an inline four, is good for a SUV. Low maintenance. Fun Factor gets a 4/10 because its a heavy car with a four cylinder. you don't get that "hold you to your seat" feel with this car, even though i can with a 10 year old ford focus with significantly less horsepower. it handles good for an SUV, no top-heavy feeling around the turns.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Good mileage, nice ammount of room, plus a variable transmission helps this car along with what its got.

Cons: Large hills can be a problem with this car if you don't have momentim at the bottom. another problem is you have very little towing capibility.

Great Car - Fun To Drive Around Town — This is a fun car to drive. Mine has FWD & 5 speed manual transmission, which I think gives it more peppiness during acceleration. It handles well, with a low center of gravity (so it takes curves better than some other vehicles I've driven). This vehicle has the classic Jeep style, which I've always liked. The interior was spacious and roomy - plenty of cargo area in the back, and lots of space in the back seat for the kids during longer trips. It's a good family car. Very reliable, no down time due to mechanical issues or anything like that. Minimal maintenance costs involved with the Patriot. (is this a better review?)

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Classic Jeep Styling, good cargo area & cabin space.  Good MPG (highway around 30mpg, and in town around 25mpg).  For a 4 cylinder engine, had good acceleration (probably because it's a 5 speed manual transmission).  Has hillside assist (makes starting on a hill with a clutch so much easier). Good traction for FWD, handles well in snow.  Fun to Drive.

Cons: When fully loaded (family trip with 4 of us in the car & luggage in the back), the engine lacks the power to maintain 65mph speeds in hilly driving.  It was fine in flat areas (such as going to shore in DE, MD or VA), but in the hilly areas of PA, it struggled on the highways.

General Lee Jr — Build Quality: works great! two years, 21000 miles! Car Comparisons: wanted a 2000 Monte Carlo(still do), but i needed something for the eight hour drive to college, and a four wheel drive is a good idea for winter in the north

Pros: It's not a car, it's a JEEP. Pure driving experience

Cons: relatively low clearance, didn't get trail rated version, can be a little inconvenient not having cruise control
