It's A Car. —

This was my first brand new car and it's been buyers remorse every time I get into the car. At 45 miles, I drove it away from the dealership and 3 months later I tried to ask about interior noises and rattles and a shaky passenger seat. I was told by the Hyundai service department that Hyundai wasn't in the business of finding noises and rattles.. That is, of course, unless I could leave my car for a week or two while they try to pin point the noises- and without having a loaner car. It's been terrible customer service from Ohio and California dealerships (bought in Ohio but moved to California two months later). As for the fuel economy, the only time I averaged more than 27+MPG was on my cross country trip from LA to Ohio. 2000+ miles and I averaged about 37 without using the A/C for most of the trip. Average city mpg is around 10 for me, and I can get up to 15mpg in mixed driving if it's warm enough not to use the heat or cool enough to use the A/C. Bottom line, check out a Ford Focus.. or even dare I say the boring Toyota corolla if you want consistent customer service and a company that stands behind their product and will have a much higher resale value.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Cheap to insure, standard AUX/USB port & 6 speakers, warranty

Cons: Interior squeaks and rattles, Hyundai customer service is atrocious, handling is non-existent, brakes fade quickly, poor average fuel economy.

Fuel Efficient, Safe, Reliable, Comfortable Ride — There's nothing I don't like about this car, except that I used to have a 2007 Elantra SE trim, (not a GLS) so I miss the sportier aluminum rims and the steering wheel audio controls. Its a great car that has many standard features that most manufacturers consider options. And you can't beat the 10yr, 100,000 mile warantee, with the first 50K/5yr totally bumper to bumper, all for a price that beats all the competition.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: great price, very reliable and excellent warantee

Cons: nothing. Hyudai is actually building it's second USA manufacturing plant which helps employ Americans!

Worth The Money! —

This was the first brand spankin new car I have ever bought. I bought it with 42 miles on it and it now has 2500. I bought the Elantra Blue and it was the last manual tranny on the lot. In all honesty I actually was going to buy a used car and the only reason I even went to the Hyundai dealership was just to look. I didn't really think much of the brand but then I took it for a drive and fell in love. I bought my car for $15K and even though that is a cheap price for a new car it is not completely barren inside. I have cruise control, power windows, locks, and mirrors. Also the mirrors are heated along with the rear window. Also My car has a ipod interface already built into it and 6 speakers to power the sound. The road noise in the car is minimal and the ride itself is very quiet and comforatable. I must say Hyundai really surprised me. Generally in town I get about 27 or 28 mpg and on the highway I have seen anywhere between 36-40 mpg depending on how I drive. The 5spd tranny definetly gives the car a peppy spirit and makes it much more fun to drive. The car also came with cool perks like an amazing warranty and also I get free oil changes for the entire time I own the car. Anyways to sum this all up.. drive one before you make ur choice that Hyundais are cheap and worthless.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Price, gas mileage, cool amenities

Cons: Looks a little silly and doesnt have any type of traction control
