As America’s best-selling passenger car for seven years running, it’d be easy to assume that no changes were necessary for the Toyota Camry in 2010. Instead, Toyota saw fit to increase power and displacement on their base engine, add an extra gear to both of their base transmissions, and make subtle styling changes to the front end. The four-door, front-wheel-drive, midsize Camry gets a freshly designed grille and front bumper with a larger intake, larger headlamps, and redesigned taillamps. Additionally, all models receive new wheels or wheel covers, tying both ends together.
Replacing the outgoing 2.4-liter, 158-hp inline four is a 2.5-liter that first saw duty in the RAV4. Power increases to 169 hp for the Base, LE, and XLE trims, while the sportier SE trim gets 179 hp. Further, the five-speed transmissions have been dropped for a standard six-speed manual in the Base, LE, and SE trims, and a standard six-speed automatic in the XLE, with both transmissions available as options on all trims. This means an increase in fuel efficiency despite the power increase, to 22/32 mpg for the automatic and 22/33 for the manual.
A 3.5-liter V6 is available as on option on Base, LE, XLE, and SE trims. It produces 268 hp, comes with a six-speed automatic, and gets 19/28 mpg. The Hybrid trim comes with 2009’s 2.4-liter gas/electric hybrid engine, which qualifies the Camry as an Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV), one of only a few vehicles with that designation. EPA estimates for the Hybrid come in at 33/34. The Hybrid also receives a redesigned meter cluster and a new fabric for the upholstery, a combination of silk protein and synthetic fiber called Fraichir.
Also new for 2010 are standard Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control on all non-hybrid trims.
When Day Running lights are on, dashboard lights work fine. When they auto switch to headlights, dashboard (including radio) go out. Local mechanic says he can't fix, but probably dealer can.
The check engine light and traction light went on simultaneously. Dealer found fault codes 1201 and 1231. He said we need charcoal canister replaced and new steering angle sensor (around $1,200). I'm skeptical from what I've been reading online. Thoughts on what else it could be or how to confirm that these are actually needed??
When i a driving my 2010 Toyota Camry the rpms suddenly jump up to 4000 and it sounds like the car is being revved up screaming and i have to take my foot off the gas pedal for it to go down , it also caused the traction control and Check engine light to come on now. I'm thinking its something with the transmission anyone has any insight?

My 2010 Toyota Camry has been having issues when it comes to accelerating on hills, or if I accelerate too quickly.. the car will feel a little jumpy & the traction light & check engine light come on. In the past I’ve been able to lay off the gas to give it a second then continue driving. But lately my car won’t accelerate after this happens & im having to pull off the road turn my car off/on and keep driving. So far I’ve gotten all new coils last month, and spark plugs back in October. I went to autozone today to get the codes read again and it’s coming back that my ABS needs to be fixed.. I’m confused since my brakes are fine & give me no issue. I’m just looking for advice as I don’t want to pay a bunch of money to fix one thing when it’s actually another.. Has anyone had this problem before? Any advice to give?
