A year after its debut as a sport coupe (taking over for the G35), the G37 receives a number of new features for 2009, including all-wheel drive and a new seven-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the G37 lineup now includes the G37 Sport Sedan, which replaces the G35 sedan and receives a boost in horsepower for '09. Infiniti also adds a new G37 Convertible to fill out the lineup.
The G37 Coupe serves as Infiniti's answer to such high-performance vehicles as the Audi TT roadster, the Jaguar XK, and the BMW 335i. It features a sleek, aerodynamic shape, a low stance, a swept-back roofline, and a sculpted hood that's deeply curved where it meets the front fenders. Available trims include the Base G37 Coupe, the G37 Coupe Journey, the G37 Coupe Sport 6MT, and the new G37x Coupe with all-wheel drive.
Power comes in the form of a 330-hp, 3.7-liter V6 engine with Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL) technology, which continually adjusts valve lift and timing to provide quicker response, better fuel economy, and lower emissions. The V6 engine manages 18/26 city/highway mpg.
In all trims except the G37 Sport 6MT, the V6 links to a new seven-speed automatic transmission with a Drive Sport (DS) mode and a driver-adaptive algorithm, which senses the driver's style and makes adjustments to the shifting patterns accordingly. For a sportier driving experience, the G37 Sport comes equipped with a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission with a short-throw shifter.
The new G37 Sport Sedan retains the same basic design and suspension of the previous year's G35, but now comes equipped with a more powerful 328-hp, 3.7-liter V6 engine. The engine also features VVEL technology, and produces 269 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 RPM, which drives the G37 from 0 to 60 in just 5 seconds. Like the G37 Coupe, the Sedan trims include the Base, Journey, Sport 6MT, and G37x AWD.
Key features for both the G37 Coupe and G37 Sedan trims include leather seats, power-adjustable front seats, Washi-finish interior aluminum trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and a six-speaker audio system with an MP3 input jack. All trims except the Base also include a 6-CD changer. Options such as a navigation system with a 7-inch color display, a rear-view monitor, and Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity are available for all trims except the Base Coupe and Sedan.
In addition, Infiniti offers optional sport brakes for the G37 Sedan trims, with four-piston front and two-piston rear calipers, and large 14-inch front and 13.8-inch rear rotors. All G37 trims also receive new Scratch Shield paint with a self-healing clearcoat finish as a standard feature.
The all-new G37 Convertible, which Infiniti will introduce as a mid-year 2009 trim, will be the first open-air trim in the G lineup. Based on the G37 Coupe, the G37 Convertible will feature a three-piece automatic retracting hardtop and unique optional interior treatments. In addition, it will come equipped with audio and heating/cooling systems designed for open-air driving.

The only complaints I have are a result of the cars age so not a big deal. For example, its not equipped with Bluetooth but thats an easy fix. Coming from a 4 cylinder manual, the price at the pump is a big difference. With those minor things aside the car is great. Fun, fast, stylish and it was a great deal! I look forward to some good years with this car. Its my first Infiniti and it wont be my last.Mar 02, 2024

Nice car but the dash plastic material has a weakness and the sun UV cracks the dash.
Also, 08-12 models were susceptible to the engine galley gasket leaking which shuts car down. Internal gasket you have to take the front end off the car to get to the motor and remove the timing chain cover. Very expensive Infiniti shop told me $3,000+ job. I am looking for a 12 or newer and will add a Car Shield extended warranty to cover any expensive parts that go bad.May 11, 2023

Im an infinity girl so the car is solid however it stated it had Bluetooth, premium stereo, navigation etc but this G37x was as basic as they come! My previous G37xs was loaded at the same price so I was disappointed but tired of looking anymore and there were enough goods like low miles and solid engine performance to accept my love for the boogie... Ill probably keep her a year or 2 and sell to buy a boogier model... infinity holds their value ... solid engine!Feb 18, 2023

Trunk space Is too small. Overall is a good powerful car. Car has some blind spots that needs to get used to. The coupe style is definitely the more sporty appearance car that can last for few years in terms of look, also handling is good at high speed. Obviously you must like a car esthetically before you buy it so I love the design. Having been a mechanic for over 15 years, I can tell you a great deal about a car just from a test drive. And a test drive was all it took in 2005 when, after going to practically all manufacturers, I test drove an Infiniti and that was it. Great combination of performance and luxury. Feels very sturdy on the road. Suspension doesn't loosen up and bounce around on you. Smart design in the interior. Would recommend anyone own an Infiniti. Mar 01, 2015

Sometimes the transmission seems to shift a little bit rough but from what I've read it is perfectly normal and it's usually on downshifts when you're going up a hill and you accelerate other than that the transmission is very strong and get through the gears you need to be in while accelerating and quicklySep 22, 2014

In comparison to the other convertibles in this class i.e. Mercedes CLK, BMW 3 series and the Volvo C60 this is by far the most fun car to drive. It has slower cost to maintain and more included options then the rest of the field.Jun 11, 2014

I purchased this vehicle in hopes for an aesthetically pleasing and smooth ride, and this car is exactly what I'm looking for. It gets about 20 mpg (combined), and with such a roaring engine, you have to be ready for a fun ride. It fits my impulsive style so well, and it definitely is a delight for long solo journeys. The front seats are surprisingly comfortable, and I often get double-takes when I'm in it. The added features like moonroof, AWD, etc. are perks though not completely necessary to enjoy the ride. Definitely would purchase again, although the G37 was discontinued in May '13.Jan 30, 2014

The Car is has excellent performance in the sense its quick to 60 and
almost as quick back to zero (get factory brakes when you need ones) the
car is amazing to drive the sporty performance and the amazing comfort
makes it a car to drive every day while enjoying it. The gas mileage is not
great and i fill up more than i like but i dont drive so fuel conscious and i

Performance- Blisteringly fast, stops on a dime. Handling is not so great because the car breaks loose easily. I think it's more due to crappy AS rubber though.
The car IS fun to drive though and is amazing in the snow.

wicked fast with 330 hp's. Very suitable 7 speed auto. Great tech toys and nav. OK stereo performance. Solid and quiet on the road with the standard tires on my "journey" model coupe(I hear the "sport" tires are noisy). Downside-you have to use 91 octane and it's a performance car..not a Prius, so your MPG's aren't great!Nov 10, 2010

Well as I work for Infiniti in the UK, the G37 coupe' is an awesome car. Overall preformance, build quality to it's handling is superb. The 7sp auto is fun to drive with the magnesium paddles, derived from the Nissan GT-R. It has elegant yet sporty looks, with many questions been asked, "what is it?". Fuel consumption is not great, but a 3.7lt V6, is not going to return you 2.0Tdi mileage.

Wife says it's fun to drive. Love the feel of a nice car inside that actually feels a little sporty when your driving. Brand new so no issues with with reliability. Avg. 22 mpg around town and local freeways.
Only two issues to pick at:
1-windows "rattle" a little when you shut the door; the Audi TT coupe it replaced didn't do that
2-has anyone seen my missing trunk space?

Awesome car. Great performance and smooth

engine sound make a nice roar when you step on it; but
when you're cruising at highway speed the sound is

I was invited to test drive a silver Infiniti G37 GT AWD sedan. The car comes equipped with a 320hp 3.7 V6, AWD and an automatic 6-speed gearbox. Although the power reserve seems so enourmous, I found the engine not very good in the upper regions. There is a lot of torque and never lack any power, but the engine character is tuned towards middle and low end power rather than having a racy touch to it.
The suspension was another relative disappointment, since the sports version wasn't available. I see the value of an AWD system on such a powerful sedan, but didn't like the suspension consistency when increasing the pace. The car became almost unfocused and wobbly where I would want it to be sharp and agile. Not much fun there (reminds me of an Audi suspension, yuk). The comfort on the other hand is a marvel.
For such a premium car, I would expect a better finish. The "alu" panels are average quality painted plastic and the general feel is not as good as it looks. The build quality is solid though.
Conclusion: good car, but not good enough to meet up with Lexus or the German duo BMW/Mercedes. Can easily win it from an Audi in ride and handling, no way near Audi regarding build quality and luxury touch.Oct 21, 2009

The performance is great. It's tight fast and great response. The second you step on the pedal the car responds. All the fancy onboard computers keep it solid on the road. The car is also sexy to boot. It's sleek looking while still managing not to stick out too much. The black interior is fantastic. It's not jet black but it doesnt look crummy and fake. It's extremely comfortable and I wouldn't mind sleeping in it. I've only had it a couple weeks so I can't really vouch for the reliability but from the reviews I've read the car seems solid. Gas mileage could be better but then again I'm not that much of a economical driver. Overall the car is fantastic and I would definitely recommend it.May 25, 2009

I have a 2009 infiniti g37 sedan and it has a problem that when I start my car and it's cold it starts to release coolant and once it warms up it stops coming out does anyone know anything since I couldn't figure out where it comes from the refrigerant... it is only when the car is cold that it releases refrigerant
