Not much is new for the G37 in 2013, as Infiniti continues to parse down the trim lineup. Available as a coupe, sedan or hardtop convertible, the G37 aims at that tiniest of targets—the luxury sports car. With the BMW 3 Series as a perfect point of reference, Infiniti didn’t have a lot of opportunity for improvement, but has tried its best to offer a bit more style and seat-of-your-pants fun than competitors.
Whether they hit that mark is a different story and certainly not a quantifiable measurement, but the G37 offers an alternative to stalwarts of the class. For 2013, look to some interior trim and color shuffling to keep things mildly fresh on this 5-year-old design.
But that just means all the reasons you loved the G37 in the first place are still there. The 330-hp, 3.7-liter V6 is still there, with its 270 lb-ft of torque on tap. The two transmissions are still there, in 7-speed automated manual and 6-speed traditional manual configurations. And the two responsive suspensions—whether in Base or Sport flavor—are still there, too.
That means you’ll be able to scoot to 60 in just 5.7 seconds if you pick a RWD Sport Coupe, and still get a return of 17 mpg city/25 highway at the pump. Pick a more reserved G37, like the Base with RWD and the automatic transmission, and you can bump those numbers to 19/27.
Of course, there have been complaints. The manual transmission has been criticized for being notchy with a clutch that seems to be either engaged or disengaged—no middle ground. The automated manual has similarly been criticized for a reluctance to downshift that can be remedied through proper application of the paddle shifters.
And that highlights a small downside of the G37: flexibility. There’s no room for weak points in this class, as a luxury sports car needs to do everything well. The G37 certainly tries with its 2-door, 4-door and hardtop convertible configurations, available in rear or AWD. If you want to offer everything to everyone—or at least everyone who can afford it—you can’t have a poor transmission or a throwaway suspension.
Thankfully, that’s not the issue with the G37's suspension offerings. Yes, the Sport trims get a little firm, but only in comparison to competitors that have been refining sport suspensions in this class for decades. You’ll feel some large-bump reverberations with the sport suspension, but not so much as to be disruptive or even annoying. It’s what we used to call feedback. The road does like to talk to you, if you’re listening. Base trims suffer from no such drawbacks and offer a competent, even sporty ride with all the soft give you’d expect from a luxury brand. Unless you’re planning on heading to the track, the Base suspension will do just fine.
The luxury is piled on here, with standard automatic xenon headlights, heated mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate controls, leather upholstery for the heated seats, a rear-view camera and more. A performance package will add a sunroof, an 11-speaker Bose system, a driver's memory system and rear parking sensors, while a Sport package ups the ante with 19-inch wheels with performance tires, sport suspension and steering, a limited-slip differential, sport brakes and seats. The tech starts getting piled on with the Navigation package with its nav system, touchscreen interface with real-time traffic and weather, Bluetooth and voice controls and video playback from DVD or USB.
The problem is you have to move vertically through the options list to get anything from subsequent packages. If you want the adaptive cruise control, pre-collision seatbelt tensioning and advanced climate control system, you must purchase the Performance, Navigation and Sport packages first—and that can get pricey.
Further, for all the luxury they’re trying to convey and offer, owners still complain about a lack of refinement from the engine and road noise intruding into the cabin. This is not a forgivable offense in a high-end luxury car.
Perhaps this class is best left to those who do it best (and have done it longest). If Infiniti cannot yet compete here, at the very least they’re offering some variety in a normally boring competition.

I thought this car features were great. For it to be a 11yr old car it still had all the bells & whips like a 2020 and up car. I think that $14,000 is a okay price for this vehicle but I think it should be $10,500 min to $12,000 max. Jun 29, 2024

A somewhat sporty luxury car with great handling characteristics and many creature comforts such as heated seats and a back up camera for a series that is between 10-15 years old. Plus, the motor is based off of one of Nissans best designs so the reliability is there also. This car can very easily be driven past 150k miles!Jan 20, 2023

Probably top 3 for the most underrated used luxury sedan out there. Reliable. Cost efficient. Quality stock driver. If youre into mods for the exterior you can customize to your liking. Outside of the fuel efficiency (18-26 depending) this car doesnt receive negative remarks from many. Very happy with mine. Feb 17, 2022

Infiniti G37s mt6 premium everything. Very nice luxury sport oriented car. Nice electronic package. Audio system is very loud and sounds good. steering is very nice, braking is very good. The car looks dang nice. Infiniti rattle and Nissan mounts are horrible. The rattle you get from the dash is damn annoying. Engine, trans, and diff mounts are total junk. Many problems in the electric, drivers seat inoperable, heated seats do not operate, roof makes awful noise opening,, rims all scratched all four, very musty odor inside, very much wear on everything on the interior. The car is a mess and the electric problem is something of concern. Oh the antenna was even broken and car very dirty. The price is high. They said it was a Indiana car but I took a oil change sticker and showed it was a new York city oil change showing it was a new York car for at least a while, the mileage due was inline with the mileage on the odometer. When I showed the sticker it was removed with haste. Car at that price was no deal.Dec 23, 2021

What was amazing - in a negative way, was the lack of thought by Infinity to care to provide any trunk space when the top is down.... The BMW has much more space....

Leased a 2013 G37S, 6MT, black on black. Put 18,900 miles on it in two years during a good mix of urban (painful) commuting, long road trips and fun back roads. It even saw a little bit of snow.
First, this is a great looking car, period. Everybody comments on it and everyone wants to ride in it. Not why I got it, but fun none-the-less.
This is a lot of car for the money. It comes with a smooth-revving V-6 with decent HP and torque, really good steering (feedback and response), a nice short-throw shifter, perfect sport seats and excellent outward visibility. When driving in traffic, I felt more like I was part of this car rather then just sitting in it as a voting member. The nearly flat torque curve (~peak torque from 2700RPM-6500RPM) means acceptable acceleration in almost every gear and the precise street handling meant for quick lane changes.
This car was well engineered. It doesnt have adjustable ANYTHING. No throttle, suspension, steering or traction control settings (just on or off). Guess what? When engineers know they dont have three settings to figure out, they do a good job perfecting the only setting they will have. The result? Responsive, predictable handling, excellent steering, a firm (but live-able ride) and fun-enough traction control.
Ok, the less then stellar parts. This car despises traffic. After driving in miserable stop and go for a few weeks, I actually started hating this car. The reason is the clutch engagement. You have to perfectly rev-match the RPM to avoid a jouncy (jumping/bouncy) engagement (with corresponding wheel hop) OR get the unsatisfying over-revved long take-up. Also, the brakes are just ok. More than adequate for daily driving, but would be toast for just about anything more spirited. Last and my most hated attribute...the throttle has a significant delay - it is drive by wire and is super-laggy. This makes rev-matching painful and imprecise. Very maddening. Engine roll-off or wind-down is equally frustrating. The engine very slowly unwinds, even at high-rpms (no doubt for emissions and comforts sake). The end state is a not-so sports car feeling. In the final analysis, what I really wanted was an E90 M3 6MT, which replaced this G37S and has addressed all of my concerns...except steering. The G37S is still better.
In summary, this is a great 8/10ths car, not meant for the track, but really good on the street. Also, this makes me shudder, but it might even be better with the 7-speed auto. How sad is that?!Mar 30, 2015
