Extra cargo room is what you get with the 2008 Dodge Sprinter Cargo 3500 170WB. The rear-wheel-drive full-size van with a 170-inch wheelbase and 274-inch overall length boasts storage capacity of 494 cubic feet. Like the other trims, it seats five, with the option to add more rows of seating. A choice of available cargo partitions include a wall, window, and door. A new optional power sliding side door can replace the manual one, both opening up 51 inches for greater access. The rear barn door opens 270 degrees. Tie-downs and a roof rack are standard. Roof-height choices are 65, 76, and 84 inches. With the latter, cargo capacity expands to nearly 600 cubic feet.
The 2008 Sprinter Cargo 3500 170WB is utilitarian, but does offer a lot of standard features. These include power windows, locks, and mirrors, remote entry, a CD player, automatic climate control, tilt and telescopic steering, two front power outlets, a tachometer, and a temperature display and compass. Front intermittent wipers can be supplemented by an optional rear window wiper. Other options include a sunroof, a 6-CD changer, heated seats and mirrors, air suspension front seats for greater comfort, cruise control, and a security system.
The van handles well, thanks to Mercedes engineering. A 3.0-liter, turbodiesel DOHC V6 gets 154 hp and 280 ft-lbs of torque, and is mated with a 5-speed shiftable automatic. Stability control has been refined to mitigate the vehicle's height. Also standard are traction control, dual front airbags, 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, mirrors with turn signals, halogen lamps, a tire monitor, and 16-inch wheels with all-season tires. If that's not enough, you can add side curtain airbags, parking sensors and a rearview camera, bi-xenon headlmaps with power washers, foglights, a breakdown kit, first aid kit, and rain-sensing wipers.
