What owners say
"Overall, owners of the 2008 Dodge Dakota appreciate its solid build, power, and comfort, often noting its good value as a mid-size truck. Key highlights include the smooth ride and capable engines, especially the V8 option. However, some drivers expressed concerns about rust in vulnerable areas and the paint quality. Despite some compromises, many feel it's a dependable choice for light jobs and casual driving."
This is a great truck for light jobs such as moving appliances. It handles great for a truck and it is fun to drive. It is a bit under powered at 210 bhp and with a 4-speed automatic its not getting much help. This truck does cruise very comfortably on long trips and for a truck it has some comfy suspension. The engine in it will just keep going as long as you treat it right with oil and transmission fluid changes. It gets about 18 mpg average which is not great but its not horrible either. I personally put about 23,000 miles on this truck a year.
December 8, 2014My truck has a 3.7 litre V6 with a 6 speed manual transmission. I bought this truck about a month ago with 4 kilometers on it, it now has 875 kilometers on it now. I have taken Lucas up Vedder Mt. 4x4ing and it handled the rocks and bumps with no problems. The sound system sounds really good, it came with 1 year of Sirius sat radio. I really like the looks of the 2008 Dakota, compared to the 2007 model. It looks more refined, less "bulbus" in the front.
February 27, 2008Great mid-sized truck. Worth every penny spent. In a class by itself. Other trucks either too small or too big.

December 8, 2014My truck has a 3.7 litre V6 with a 6 speed manual transmission. I bought this truck about a month ago with 4 kilometers on it, it now has 875 kilometers on it now. November 18, 2021Although I had sworn never to own a Chrysler product I got a good deal on this truck in 2008 with only 4K miles on it. Since then I've put over 52K trouble-free miles on it and have no complaints whatsoever. It can hold five people, haul just about anything that will fit in the five foot bed, and is reasonably economical.
January 1, 2013Good Truck overall. Cheap Lease. Drives well, solid build. Nice job on the exterior and interior overhaul for 2008. Sirius radio kicks serious a*s. Really like the extended cab doors that swing out 180 degrees. Perfect truck for city driving. 3.7L isn't great on gas, but not terrible. Fun to drive, cheap lease, and very aggresive looking.
August 7, 2008Great truck. Really a mid-size which is hard to find theses days. Yes, good value. The only competition would be the GM models like Colorado. I think the Dodge is a great overall mid-size. They are hard to find and the rear fenders tent to rot. I got a great price so I am paying 1600 bucks to get the rust cleaned up but still a good deal. Thy come with a V6 or the 4.7 L V8 Magnum. Both great engines. depending on what you need it for.
April 28, 2021It really has get up and go and the highway milage for a crew cab is outstanding I have gotten up to 22 mpg. Additionally, the truck has great ride much improved of previous years. It climmbs mountains with little trouble.
February 7, 2010acceleration is good but the truck is heavy brakes are great and turns awesome. no repairs besides maitence. car is comfortable and sleak looking for a truck. gas isnt bad its about 40 to fill it and its a blast
August 4, 2009Great truck, the first truck I bought for myself back when I was a river guide. It starts first time every time, looks better dirty, great power, great seats, overall fun to drive and always ready to pick up something heavy and take it where it needs to go. I would drive it for life if it had back seats.
May 30, 2013A great color combination with the red body, black rims, and tinted windows. The lockable hard bed cover is perfect for keeping things dry and secure while camping, boating, or moving. The engine sounds great even with the stock mufflers.
