The 2007 Toyota 4Runner is carried over without any changes from the previous model year. The SUV underwent a thorough redesign for 2006 and is now in its fourth generation. Toyota's midsize SUV is marked by its combination of interior comforts and rugged off-road ability.
All 4Runners are built with durable body-on-frame construction. Twelve 4Runner variations are available this year, each featuring a unique engine, drivetrain, and trim line combination.
The 4Runner is available in three trim levels: SR5, Limited, and Sport Edition. The the SR5 is the base level here, and it includes automatic climate control, keyless entry, a CD player, trip computer, and power windows/locks/mirrors. An upgrade to the Sport Edition adds power seats, 17-inch wheels, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. A retuned suspension is also included. The top-tier Limited trim gains running boards, dual climate control, 18-inch wheels, leather, and heated front seats. The options list is extensive for all models. It includes a DVD-based navigation system, Bluetooth, backup camera, rear-seat DVD entertainment, and a premium JBL audio system with a six-disc changer. A ten-speaker JBL audio upgrade is also available.
Each trim is available with either a 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrain, both of which are teamed with a five-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. There are two engine options as well. The smaller offering is a 4.0-liter V6, which generates 236 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. This V6 is also used in the Tacoma pickup. The larger engine is a 4.7-liter V8, good for 260 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque. Both engines use Toyota's variable valve timing system to improve fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and boost power. Two-wheel-drive 4Runners with the V6 have an EPA rating of 18/22 mpg. V-8 models fall to 17/20 mpg. The 4x4 4Runners equipped with the V6 are rated at 17/21 mpg, and the V8s rate 16/19 mpg.

What owners say
"Overall, 2007 Toyota 4Runner owners express a strong appreciation for its reliability, comfort, and versatility. Many drivers love the spacious cargo area and the ability to fold down back seats, making it ideal for family trips and transporting bulky items. However, some owners have mentioned concerns about rust and the vehicle's fuel economy. Many find the ride smooth and enjoyable, while a few noted certain features like high-speed idling with the air conditioning."
good features, good value, engine was well maintained age and rust at mount points was a concern which could make body and suspension maintenance challenging maybe 3 to 5 years max longivity
February 6, 2026Great vehicle. Half Truck and half SUV. I am impressed with just abut everything on this vehicle.
July 2, 2023This is the best on road/off road vehicle I have ever owned or driven.

February 25, 2008I couldn't ask for a better vehicle. I have a job where I have to carry a lot of bulky equipment and this vehicle has been able to accomodate everything I have needed. I feel very safe in this SUV. It looks, handles and accelerates very nicely! Fun to drive! I have not had any maintenance done besides the recommended services. Toyota is the #1 brand of automobiles so no worries there!
August 15, 2012Great car. It is like a tank, in a good way.
May 8, 2022This car is rusted all over, a lot of problems with the engine and car as a whole. Try to avoid.
July 3, 2021Boring reliability. So far after 14 years of ownership, nothing has been replaced except maintenance items likes tires, fluids, drive belts, and the occasional brake pads.
June 9, 2021Strong and reliable engine and a comfortable ride. I like the styling, quality and handling in snow. The interior is fully functional, controls are easy to use. I would recommend this SUV to anyone who wants a strong vehicle surrounding them...
