The base 2007 Porsche Boxster was powered by a 2.7-liter, flat six-cylinder engine with VarioCam Plus, which continually adjusts valve timing for optimal performance. As a result, the engine produced 245 horsepower while remaining fuel efficient.
A six-speed manual transmission with a hydraulic clutch was standard, while an updated five-speed Tiptronic S automatic/manual transmission, with new hydraulics and electronics, was available as an option.
Features included a three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, power windows, power exterior mirrors, a climate control system, an on-board trip computer, and a digital in-dash AM/FM stereo system with a CD player. Anti-lock braking, a central locking system with remote, 17-inch Boxster wheels, an automatic extending rear spoiler, and Porsche's Stability Management system were also part of the package.
In addition, the Boxster was equipped with a lightweight, sound-insulating convertible top that opened and closed in 12 seconds. It came with a heated glass rear window, and could be operated while moving at speeds up to 30 miles per hour.
Options included Park Assist, automatic climate control, a Bose surround sound system, a six-disc CD changer, a three-part Windstop wind deflector, and an aluminum hardtop.
