2007 Pontiac G5 Trims and Specs

Brand new for 2007 is the sporty Pontiac G5 Coupe, another attempt to recapture Pontiac's performance image. The 2007 G5 Coupe base model comes with a 148-hp, 2.2-liter I4 Ecotec engine and choice of 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. It sits on 15-inch wheels and carries a rear spoiler. A sunroof is optional. In terms of safety, ABS brakes and traction control are options on the 2007 G5 Coupe. Dusk-sensing headlights, daytime running lights, dual front airbags, and a security system are standard. Side curtain bags are extra.

The sporty-looking G5 Coupe comes well equipped, though features are kept to a minimum so as not to impede performance. Full power features are included (windows, locks, mirrors), plus air conditioning, keyless entry, a temperature display, A CD and MP3 player, tilt steering wheel, and a front console. Rear seats split-fold to add extra storage room. An upgraded audio system, OnStar, heated leather seats, remote start, cruise control, and 16-inch wheels are all optional. Owners of the 2007 G5 Coupe say it's fun to drive, with good pickup power, and surprisingly roomy. Rear visibility is hampered by the spoiler.

The sportier version of the new 2007 Pontiac G5 is the GT Coupe, which features a sports-tuned suspension, stronger shocks, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a more powerful 173-hp, 24.-liter DOHC I4 Ecotec engine. Like the base model, it comes with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. The front-wheel drive coupe also features ABS brakes, along with the already standard daytime running lights, dual front airbags, and dusk-sensing lights. Fog lights are added to the GT Coupe.

Not only is it sportier, but the 2007 G5 GT Coupe also offers extensive features. Adding on to the base model's power equipment, the GT provides cruise control, audio controls on the steering wheel, a leather-trimmed shifter and wheel, and a trip computer. Rear seats split-fold for more cargo room, but when up, the GT Coupe can seat five. A rear spoiler decorates the outside. Options add heated leather seats, OnStar, remote start, a sunroof, and a 6-CD changer with MP3 playback. Drivers like the good smooth handling of the 2007 GT Coupe, and its decent fuel economy, but wish it had a little more power and better rear window visibility. They also don't like the plastic-looking dash.
