Write a reviewDaimler Chrysler has been one of the leaders in the automotive retro movement for years. Chrysler's concept-based PT Cruiser led the way in the early part of the decade, along with the ill-fated Plymouth Prowler. The PT Cruiser is now in its seventh year of production, with only a few notable changes for 2007. A power lift gate and keyless entry have been added as standard items on the base model. There are seven variations of the PT available this year, thanks to four trim levels and two body styles. Chrysler's Base, GT, and Touring finishes are offered on both the convertible and wagon models. The wagon can also be had with the upscale Limited trim. The base PT wagon is equipped with power accessories, a CD audio system, and keyless entry. The convertible adds air conditioning. The Touring model adds a few additional standard features, and the GT provides more of a sporting orientation. The Limited PT includes a power driver's seat and a moon roof. A six-disc CD changer and heated seats are optional on most models. All PT Cruisers house a 2.4 liter DOHC four cylinder engine. On the base models, the power plant stands on its own, making 150 horsepower. The Limited and Touring versions of the PT are available with an optional turbocharger, which bumps horsepower to 180. A further enhanced variation of the modest 2.4 is offered with the GT, giving the most performance-focused PT a total of 230 horsepower. Only the GT can be equipped five speed manual transmission.
Owners and reviewers strongly recommend looking into the turbo-enhanced versions of the Touring and Limited trims. The 150 horsepower base engine does not offer much driving excitement, and drivers report some frustration when passing and merging in fast-moving traffic. Reviewers also note that there is considerable variance between the trim levels, although more standard features have been added to the Base PT. Favorite features on the higher trim levels include the Boston Acoustics sound system, satellite radio, and the touring suspension. The exterior design and interior flexibility are strong selling points on all models.

I just got a 2006 with 102,000 miles on it I hope to get more than 280,000 seems to have a shutdown problem the ECU went out says the person I bought it from but it has not shut down on me yet although it was full of bees nest pulled 25 hives out of it.Jun 02, 2022

These cars are great little all-purpose Vehicles where the seats fold down give you a room in the back easy to drive however they have an engine with a timing belt which is prone to go around 90,000 miles and the cost is excessive more than $1,500 for repairs which drives a lot of these cars into the junk yards and an early graveOct 19, 2021

This is my wife's car and she loves it! Specifically she loves the arm-chair driving position and it's perfect for her running around town. Except I REALLY wish it got better mileage. It averages around 20.5 mpg which is 1 less than my 2003 Town & Country van.
I put a custom, cold air intake on it which added about 7 hp to the motor and improved the acceleration.... but not the mpg. I recommend it.
The build and material quality is utilitarian. Not much luxury to be found but it won't fall apart in your hands either. Nov 17, 2014

With a good set of snow tires, it does a great job driving on icy/snow packed roads. The brakes seemed a bit touchy initially, but wasn't an issue once I became familiar with driving it. It's definitely a fun car to drive.Dec 30, 2012

Runs good. Looks good. Red, 4 cylinder, 4 door, gray cloth interior, keyless entry. Seats fold down, come out. Great for hauling.
Inspected til 7/2011.
Recently had tune up, and work: new water pump, serpentine belt, new spark plugs, timing belt.

I absolutely love my car - it has gorgeous looks and it makes me smile to look at it. It drives pretty good for the length of car - the sports suspension is a great addition on the Lmt Edition and even with rough handling on twisty roads I still haven't (yet) lost the back end! The music system built in is fab and the seats are extremely comfortable along with the fast you sit accross to the car not down to it - so this gives you a sense of hight and better driver position. It is a quircky beast and I love the fact that most PT Drivers wave at each other - a different car if you want to be different! Nov 08, 2008

For a four cylinder..the mileage you get is awful, otherwise its an awesome little vehicle if you just wanna cruise and arent looking for any high speeds, tight cornering, or quick exceleration..it is a CRUISER and nothing more. Storage space is a bit of an issue as well..golf clubs will not load sideways, which is quite discerning when just about any midsize car can handle that kind of load in its trunk.Aug 11, 2008

This car is fun to drive. It has decent to good gas mileage and generally performs well. I love the looks of the car, but I do wish I could have gotten leather interior. I got the base model, so I don't have cruise control (which I love). My only other complaint is its lack of ooomph in acceleration, which would be eliminated (or added) with a Turbo or possibly Touring edition.Jul 15, 2008

I own this car.
In tradition with all of the PT Cruisers the 150 H.P. engine doesnt do anything for it. Its just pain slow to sum it up.
Every negitive has a positive , this engine gets great gas mileage19 City, 24 Highway. The suspension is beefed up from the base Touring edition, handles very nice
The outside looks like all of the other Touring models except for the special badging. Two circle discs on each fender showing a highway and pacific Coast Highway written around the perimeter. In the back theres a Cruiser series emblem, all nicely done. Theres only one color you can get.........Blue but very nice paint job so all you polish guys will have a good time. The wheels well they are aluminum cheesy type nothing like the ones on the GT, anyway they are ok untill you get some after market beauties
The fit and finish is good, everything lines up. Im just waiting for the black side window paint to discolor like they have since 2002.
The interior has special blue back gauges during the day and are black backround at night Serius radio is just the best with around 200 stations (comes standard for the year and Chrysler pays the tab, not bad)
Power drivers seat, manual passenger, one touch windows in the front, power door locks, information center showing you the time duration, fuel mileage, distance to empty.
On the center of the console is a great classy looking analog clock.
The worst problem, which might not be a problem to some is the seat only come in cloth, no leather option. They do however are two toned with the center of the front and back seat the same color as the exterior blue. It kind of grows on you, although you really dont have a choice but the leather would have been a nice option.
I dont know f the Pacific Coast Highway edition will win any awards but its nice to know you have a limited edition. I have been trying to find out how many they made but after months of searching I still cant find out.Mar 02, 2008

Very cheap feeling ride. A typical Mopar interior that detracts from anything of value. The drivers seat positioning for my 5'8" frame was terrible. The interior controls we so far from being intuitive it was ridiculous. The exterior styling is a thing of the past -- have these changed at all since their launch? This car was one of the worse cars i have ever driven. It was also the first
car i totaled( and only car) It was uncomfortable, i felt like i was in a
