After introducing the V8 Vantage in 2006, venerable British automaker Aston Martin made two significant additions to the front-engined, two-passenger exotic sports car for 2007. The first was the introduction of a V8 Vantage Roadster, a convertible model with a three-layer fabric top that retracted in just 18 seconds at the touch of a button and at speeds up to 30 miles per hour. The second addition was a new six-speed Sportshift automatic transmission.
Like the V8 Vantage Coupe, the V8 Vantage Roadster is hand-crafted and features the distinctive Aston Martin mesh grille, as well as the sleek exterior and swept-back lines that typify all of Aston Martin's sports cars. The fabric roof stows neatly under a metal tonneau cover, opening up the leather-lined interior to the great outdoors. It's equipped with a heated rear glass window.
The electro-hydraulic Sportshift automatic transmission provides improved shift points and the option to shift manually using magnesium paddle shifters mounted on the steering column. Drivers can also choose a Comfort shift mode for a "more relaxed" driving experience, according to the automaker.
Exterior design elements for the coupe and roadster include a low stance, minimal front and rear overhangs, a skin of lightweight alloy and advanced composites, stylish side strakes, halogen projector headlights, LED rear lights, and a long hood with the Aston Martin wings emblem near the nose.
Under the hood of both trims is a 4.3-liter V8 engine that produces 380 horsepower. The engine sits behind the front axle but ahead of the passenger cabin (officially a front mid-engine layout), providing the V8 Vantage with unique sports-car balance, handling, and stability. With its V8, the Vantage can leap from 0 to 60 in about five seconds.
Interior features include hand-stitched leather seats, an aluminum instrument panel with three-dimensional gauges, an organic electroluminescent (OEL) central message display, a glass starter button, power-adjustable front seats, a premium stereo system with a six-disc CD changer, and automatic climate control.
The V8 Vantage also comes with a full range of safety features, including traction control, electronic stability control, and dual-stage front airbags, as well as side airbags. Another nice feature is a full set of luggage, which fits neatly into the rear cargo space of the coupe, accessible via the car's rear hatchback.

What owners say
"Overall, owners of the 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage feel very positively about their cars. Many rave about its beautiful design, exhilarating sound, and impressive performance. However, some drivers expressed disappointment with the acceleration and handling, mentioning that it can feel a bit sluggish and uncomfortable at times. The stunning interior and exterior aesthetics are frequently highlighted as a standout feature that truly elevates the driving experience."
Good: Most beautiful car available. Even prettier than the DB9 due to smaller proportions. Good handling, a little too soft for my taste, but very settled when going fast. Feels better in open spaces, rather than twisty canyon roads. Amazing exhaust note, best factory sound system in any car I've head. Bad: Feels slow and lethargic. If the car ran as it sounds, I would have kept it. Drove the 2009 and they really improved it. Numb steering. Vanity mirrors looked like from a toy make-up set. Plasticky, cheap that distorted. If they are going to put something there, make it worth it.
July 12, 2009I find it doesn't have the immediate put your head in the back of your seat power, but having said that it does drive very fast, comfortable fun. Very sophisticated, elegant and gets looks every two seconds someone is waving or thumbs up. Takes some time to get used to because drives different than your average sports car, but when you do it is a lot of fun!
September 13, 2012the interior is beautiful, suede headliner. nav system is pop up door handles are a little weird but you can get used to them. performance is awesome, but it should have been a v12, but the car was built from its racing heritage. overall impression, definitely worth the $130k sticker price.

May 10, 2008A manual transmission version of this car is sure to be a Modern Classic! A great GT.
April 25, 2021One of the best sounding exhaust notes ever! Also one of the most beutifully proportioned desings of all time. Great perfomance as you would expect and a real quality feel. It may not have the reliability of a 911, but it's like a nice suit, it makes you feel special, which is all important for a car in this class.
November 21, 2008Throaty V8 sound is amazing. Handling is incredible. The interior and exterior of the car is gorgeous. 3rd gear can get you to 105 ;-)
January 6, 2008A perfect car all round, sounds fantastic with straight through exhaust option.
December 21, 2007The best car i have ever driven
January 23, 2008This car is cool, good looking and sounds amazing. Gearbox is a clutchless paddleshift, you can have some real fun, its quick and sticks to the road, however it does about 12 mpg and first service was £1200 for an oil and filter,, i think the filter was made out of gold, and the oil is based on crystal champaign !
September 28, 2008Ive had a 2007 Vantage I bought new - was shocked at how reliable and trouble free it was in the 25K miles I drove it
