The most upscale trim in the lineup, the 2006 Nissan Altima 3.5 SL rivals the slightly larger Maxima in terms of standard features and power, all at a lower price point. With a 250-hp, 3.5-liter DOHC V6 and 5-speed manumatic transmission, the 2006 Altima 3.5 SL adds 4-wheel ABS brakes, xenon headlights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, automatic climate control, a sunroof, CD changer, and heated leather seats. This is in addition to a power driver's seat, full power features, wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, a trip computer, security system, and tilt and telescopic steering.
Dual front airbags are standard, with an option to add side impact bags for both rows. Conveniences such as a cargo net, seatback pockets, storage consoles, a power outlet, and cupholders are family-oriented. Since it's well-outfitted, there are few options, but you can add a navigation system, traction control, and speed-sensing wipers. New this year is optional satellite radio. Pickup is satisfying on the 2006 Altima 3.5 SL, and drivers also like the interior comfort, standard features, exterior styling, and 4 and 5-star crash ratings. There are some complaints about the interior ergonomics and the placement of the front armrest.
