2006 Land Rover LR3 Trims and Specs

A 4.0-liter V6 delivers 216-hp and 269 lb-ft of torque in the 2006 Land Rover LR3 V6. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic with manual mode. Full-time all-wheel drive combines with a locking center differential, electronic transfer case, fully independent double wishbone suspension and adjustable air suspension. A locking rear differential is optional. The Terrain Response System chooses between five settings to adjust ride height, gearing, and traction control with the 18-inch wheels and all-season tires. Other standard features include ABS brakes, stability control, Hill Descent, electronic brakeforce distribution, and dual front-side airbags. Side curtain bags for all rows are extra.

The 2006 LR3 V6 comes with full power features, including power front seats. Cruise control, leather trim, keyless entry, CD player, heated mirrors, rear window wiper, and a security system are all standard. Second row seats fold flat, opening up the 44 cubic foot cargo area to 90 cubic feet. An optional third row seat cuts the cargo area to 9 cubic feet, but also folds flat. A roof rack is included, along with a cargo cover. The rear window opens separately from the tailgate, like a clam shell. Heated leather seats, a power or fixed sunroof, satellite radio, rear climate control, and upgraded audio system are available as options.

The 2006 Land Rover LR3 SE adds a lot more features and a 300-hp, 4.4-liter V8 and 6-speed shiftable auto tran that produces 315 lb-ft of torque. The full-time AWD comes with a locking center differential (rear one is extra), a double wishbone and fully independent adjustable air suspension, low-range gearing and an electronic transfer case, and 18-inch wheels with all-season tires. Side curtain airbags for the first two rows are standard in the SE, along with dual front airbags. Optional third row side bags come with the optional seats. ABS brakes, traction and stability control, Hill Descent, and the Terrain Response System provide a safe and solid ride. Xenon headlights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and foglights are extra.

Leather upholstery, a CD/MP3 player, and upgraded Harman/Kardon audio system come when you upgrade to the SE. Wheel-mounted audio controls join the cruise controls, and dual-zone climate control and rear audio controls add passenger convenience. A combo fixed/and power sunroof opens up the interior space. Other standard features include power front seats, fold-flat second row, a roof rack, cargo cover, front and rear wipers, heated mirrors, keyless entry, and privacy glass. The cargo area is as small as 9 cubic feet (with the third row) or as big as 90. Fuel economy ranges between 14 and 18 mpg. More options come with the 2006 LR3 SE, including heated front and rear seats, satellite radio, headlight cleaners, a navigation system, Bluetooth, and a built-in cooler. Owners like all the features, the roomy interior, and the quiet ride, but report problems with the electronics and wish the V8 was more powerful.

Everything that's an option on the lower trims is pretty much standard on the 2006 Land Rover LR3 HSE. The upper end of the premium all-wheel drive SUV is fueled by a 300-hp, 4.4-liter V8 and 6-speed auto tran with manual mode. The HSE adds automatic headlights, auto-dimming rearview mirror, xenon headlamps with wipers, rain-sensing wipers, and both front and rear foglights. Larger 19-inch wheels with all-terrain tires add to the standard traction and stability control, electronic brakeforce distribution, Hill Descent, 4-wheel ABS, and dual front-side and side curtain airbags for all three rows. The third row of seats is standard this year for the 2006 LRS HSE. Adjustable air suspension and five Terrain Response settings adapt to different road conditions. An optional locking rear differential can be added to the center differential.

Only found in the HSE are heated front and rear seats, memory settings for the power front seats, parking sensors, a navigation system, rear audio and climate control, Bluetooth, and carpeted floor mats. Leather upholstery, wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls for the CD/MP3 changer, Harman Kardon speakers, a fixed and power sunroof, and leather trim are also standard. Both second and third row split-fold 20/40/20 to expand the cargo area, which comes with a net and cover. Satellite radio and a cooler console can be added. Most owners want better gas mileage, and some report trouble with the transmission. On the upside, they love the handling, off-road performance, and interior room.
