This rugged SUV adjusts for all road conditions, thanks to its Terrain Response System with five settings and its adjustable air suspension with four settings. No matter what the road throws at it, the AWD 2008 Land Rover LR3 doesn't bat an eye. It continues to rate highly for its sturdy and solid, yet quiet ride, interior comfort and room, and off-road capability.
For 2008, the LR3 drops the V6 engine, but maintains the 300-hp, 4.4-liter V8 and 6-speed automatic. Dropping the V6 means both the SE and HSE trims now come standard with three rows of seats. Both second and third rows fold flat, expanding the 9.9 cubic foot cargo area to 90 cubic feet. Plenty of head and legroom keep all seven passengers comfortable, though some say the third row is hard to access. The full-time AWD comes with a locking rear differential and high and low-range gearing for optimal off-road performance. It is helped by 18-inch alloy wheels, standard ABS brakes, Hill Descent Control, and traction and stability control. Keeping your family safe are the dual front and side curtain airbags for all rows.
All trims come with full power features, leather seats, and a sunroof. The HSE adds parking sensors, a navigation system, memory settings, an upgraded Harmon Kardon audio system, and xenon headlights. The 2008 LR3 adds an 8-way power passenger seat and a power tilt and telescopic steering wheel function. Land Rover also dresses up the interior somewhat, with a variety of accent options, ranging from metal to walnut wood.
Knowing the 2008 LR3 can handle a variety of driving situations is one of its big selling points, but ultimately most drivers will be transporting family around city streets and not uneven riverbeds. Plenty of storage compartments, cupholders, and stadium style seating serve this suburban need. Some negative complaints mention the sluggish acceleration (due to the weight of the SUV), its costly 12/17 mpg, early tire wear, and the lack of a more economical diesel option.

The vehicle is now 15 years old and we have not had a single problem. It rides really well and the4 V8 has all the power you need. We only have a little under 60,000 miles on it but we keep it as a gardening truck. Lots of room in the back. Much more than our new Range Rover Autobiography.Jul 02, 2023

The LR3 is not everyones cup of tea, you have to keep in mind you are not paying for a Honda Pilot, the LR3 requires certain amount of maintenance and is the first owner fails to keep up with that, it will trickle down to next owners! Simple regular maintenance on this vehicle will cost you thousands of dollars! Afterall it was built for the purpose of off-roading and if the vehicle is not abused it will guarantee you up to 500,000 miles on the original engine and transmission!
The suspension needs periodic check up while in service for oil changes and that can save you lots of money and headache!

This is a very solid truck that can handle any obstacle in its way. If it cant go over the hill, it will flatten it. Great cargo room and the best family car in its class!

Great all around SUV for the family! Dependability ranks high, provided you follow the maintenance schedule by land rover and you have it serviced in a land rover dealership. I guess the people complaining about this car had it serviced somewhere else.Feb 10, 2012

This is my second land rover and i love the overall handling and strong v8 with the off road capability along with towing capacity.....It has served our family well with the additional third row seating along with the high storage area in the rear with the dissappearing seats. The adjustment buttons for the air suspension setting were placed in the wrong place just below the shift and we constanly hit it with stuff getting in or out. I love my LR3. Its yet to let me down, and what it didnt have new I can always add as I go along. Including an iPod adapter from Land Rover thats good with the steering wheel and the center stereo counsel .. This, you can take it camping one weekend .. skiing the next.. its great for my dogs and has optional covers for the seats and rear cargo area to accommodate them .. I just can't say enough how much this is really the vehicle for all occasions, Next purchase is the Tent that attaches to the tail gate .. lol just all around classy good stuff, done the English way .. This is a collectors item if you are a Land Rover fan. I was lucky to find one hardly used( 1.200km) at my dealership, when I had to take my previous LR3 back to Western Europe.
I love the the tuff look and the equipment to go with it. The Tangerine Orange colour makes it almost unique (at least limited), and i can't wait for the light summer nights to be over to really check out if those lamps will light up the night...(it doesn't really get dark in Russia during summer).Jul 06, 2009

The Discovery 3 / LR3 has amazing off-road capabilities without sacrificing on-road ride and handling. The air suspension provides unrivalled ground clearance and while on high ride mode this beast managed to wade anything I threw at during it last summer's UK flooding. The interior and exterior design successfully combine toughness with luxury. The interior craftmanship was significantly improved compared to 2007 model. The 7 seat folding and stowing possible combations makes this the most adaptable SUV interior I've seen.Mar 15, 2008

I have a 2008 LR3 with 255/60R18 tires. Can I replace with P245/60^18 tires?
Tires were a "gift" and have low miles. Hoping they will work.

AM radio has no signal, only white noise. All else works.
2008 LR3. AM radio signal missing. All else works. As the key is turned, the AM signal is present, but is gone as the switch moves to start and run. AM sometimes comes on. 5% of the time. Some bad connection, but where? Thanks, Roy
