A wo=old of difference between the xk8 and the xkr. The xkr was the best car I have ever owned Other than a flat tire, and regular maintenance it needed nothing. That is saying a lot for a Jaguar

I Would Have Loved To Love This Car... —

This car is a beautiful car - no two ways about it... and for a luxury car, it had decent pick up... definitely more for a cruising vehicle than someoen who's looking to do some serious driving... so to me it was a great car for the summer... the issue is that I bought this (as I do most of my 'summer cars') being a year old... I bought it from a Jaguar dealership even though I could have got it cheaper going other routes - the main reason I did this was that Jaguar had recertified it... in the first 2 months I owned it, it was in the shop several times... the last time because the air conditioner condensation was draining into the passenger side footwell! Now, I'll say that it was a used car, so there could be things wrong - hell, there could be things wrong with a brand new car... but the real issue was that for the items I brought the car back for, I kept hearing that they weren't covered under the recert program... on the last one, I was told because thye had to pull out the dash to deal with it, it was going to be about 1k to get fixed and the reason it wouldn't be covered is because there was a rubber piece that was worn and the recert doesn't cover rubber parts since they wear - but this was a one year old car with about 9k miles on it, so how does it wear to that point?? So if you are looking for a great looking car that you will look great in, this could be the car for you - I can't tell you how many people commented on it when I'd drive by (and trust me, it was all about the car and nothing to do with me!)... If you are looking for a car that is a great cruiser on the highway, giving a soft/comfortable ride, again this could be the car for you... but just be ware that it is going to get expensive to repair very quickly!

Pros: Looks great...  sleek lines on the outside and the interior was very 'rich'

Cons: Lots of mechanical issues

2006 Jaguar XK-Series XK8 Convertible RWD Review
GuruV16HS says:
Very sturdy body structure feels rock solid. Very luxurious materials in cabin, classic GT coupe styling. Hampered by a couple things. Interior and exterior styling, while very nice, seems too cautious, as if they were afraid to offend anyone with anything too daring. Every line on the dashboard is gently curved: all the sub-panels are trapezoid-shaped w/ rounded corners. The panels themselves are a mishmash of styles; rather than eclectic, it looks a bit mismatched. The flat gauges, harkening back to British styling tradition, look flat and cheap. In base model form, the engine gives one big burst of wheel-spinning torque, then just trundles along at a modest pace. In spite of this, it is a car I am seriously considering buying (in R form).

Looks/Style Ranked 2006 Cadillac XLR better.
"The XLR styling is crisp, modern, and daring. The angular panels and lines are a nice contrast to all the rounded cars out there, and the low wide tail-high stance give it a storng appearance, especially with the wide rear tires on the V variants. The interior is similarly crisp. The gauges have a rich depth of layering. The XK dimensions and proportions are almost identical to the XLRs, but the styling is much more subdued. The most striking line, the curve over the rear fender, seems too short. The taillights are an odd shape that doesnt seem to have anything to do with the car, and the taper at the end of the trunk makes the car look less muscular than it should. To illustrate, the similarly shaped F-Type is much more striking, because the lines are bolder, the rear fender line higher and wider, the lights more dramatic, etc. "
