Good Car For The Long Haul Or Around Town — I enjoy driving this car and really like the fuel economy. I was used to an SUV so it was odd to be closer to the ground at first. But there is just as much space to carry my stuff around in.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Very reliable, easy to drive. Compact but has lots of interior space. Turbo diesel engine has excellent fuel economy - 45 miles per gallon on highway on recent trip to Dallas.

Cons: You have to find gas stations that sell diesel. It is an older model so no super new gadgets - just CD player.

German Quality And Great Options — This car is great on gas, it's a mid-size sedan that offers a lot of space! The acceleration is pretty impressive and it handles very well. A very good looking car, fun to drive with good visibility. Repair costs are on the higher hand but these cars require really few repairs, they're really well built and the gas mileage is really good. Overall, this car can pack up the miles better than most other cars of its category!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Strong, beautiful, sturdy, powerful, easy to maneuver

Cons: Maintenance is a little more than for an American car.

Love My Passat Gls! — Loved how much space I had! Parking is very easy also! The heated seats warm up fast (good for the arctic Minnesota winters!). I am always the one driving because everyone loves how much space and how comfortable the Passat is! I had no blind spots and it handles extremely well. Love zipping around in this car!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: -Lot's of space!
-Parking is no problem!
-The HEATED seats!
-Very comfortable!
-No blind spots, very good visible!
-Handles extremely well!
-Spacious back seats!
-Anti-lock brakes!

Cons: -Parts can cost more but easily avoided with normal maintenance and safe driving!

The Almost Perfect Wagon! — Wish it came in AWD and a slightly bigger engine. I love room to fit everything i own in it plus two golden retrievers. The car sips gas and is front wheel drive. it would be better with a bigger diesel and AWD but I here VW is going to make an AWD diesel version of this in 2015 or 2016. Not the sexiest car in the world, unless you like to bring two 80lbs dogs with you wherever you go and then it is the perfect vehicle....

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: great gas mileage.  loads of room

Cons: not 4 wheel drive.

The Passat Rocks — Love, love, love this car. The only downside is that after 115K+ miles the small repairs are ridiculously priced. A simple sensor for my door lock costs well over $500 to repair. Yikes! Up until this point, very minimal repairs and maintenance were needed. Would highly recommend and purchase again.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Stylish, handles great, turbo, minimal repairs

Cons: If there are repairs they are costly

Vw Passat, The Best Semi-auto I've Driven! — This TDi sport model has good performance for a semi-auto. It has good handling & 130BHp from a 1.9L diesel engine. Apart from the regular consumables, it never needs repairs. It's appearance shows that this is a solid german car that can be trusted. This model does not have the advanced designs of modern VW's, but you can still get a fair few miles to the gallon. This car is meant to be more of a luxery car than a fun car, but there is still potential to go up against cars designed to be more fun.

Pros: The CLIMBAtronic system always keeps the car at the required temperature

Cons: Nothing.

My 4motion — So far real nice overall, I've put over 40k worry free. A headlight and taillight was all that needed replacing, tires also. At 80k, I now pray for 40-80k more! Always maintain scheduled maint. is key! I read a lot of horror stories. and I just wonder if people are changing oil and doing the correct maint. or not that will kill any car. GO VW!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: look, ride, feel

Cons: none yet

4motion Awd + Utility + Handling = Supercar! — One of the best cars ever made. More cargo room (64 cu. ft.) than many SUVs, German Sport sedan handling, independent suspension for a nice ride and great control, and 4 Motion AWD to get through 55" of snow in one week with no problems whatsoever! Gas mileage is much lower than my 2001 V6 FWD sedan (stick), abotu 30% lower! The wagon, 4Motion and Tiptronic (automatic) transmission add about 500 pounds! ABotu 20-22mpg around town (suburbs), 24-26 on the highway if you take it easy. At 75-85mph cruise, only 23mpg.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: utility, comfort, handling, solid build, safety, AWD

Cons: gas mileage
