Not A Large Suv But Sill Has The Comfort And Higher Ride. — A larger vehicle will always get less gas mileage, so there isn't anything you can do about that. Considering how much less room there is between the Explorer and the Expedition I would go back to the Expedition for my next vehicle. You can't beat it for road trips. I love not having to worry about packing too much! The Explorer is a great vehicle, but just a little bit too small when you have a long distance to travel and a lot of suitcases and things to take along. As far as mechanics and handling, I don't think you can beat Ford.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: The over all look of this car is appealing if you like a "meatier" look. I personally dislike the look of the crossovers, so I like the bigger more boxy look of the larger vehicles.

Cons: For the gas mileage you save, which is not that much I prefer the room of the Expedition over this Explorer. Although it rides nice, and handles wonderfully, there is quite a bit less room inside and you do sacrifice the comfort of that larger vehicle.

Great Suv — I love everything about my SUV ... except for the plastic that is on the bottom of the driver seat. When you get in and out of the vehicle it cinches the material which will continue to tear. Ford made a bad design with this, just my opinion....

    Primary Use: Family transportation

    Pros: Love this SUV...

Cons: Driver seat rips near plastic handle

Great Ford Explorer — I've enjoyed this car as my daily drive for about a year. It has been reliable and functional without any problems. The 4.0 V6 is adequate but would prefer a V8 in the future. All the options, for the price I paid, made this a no-brainer purchase!

Pros: Reliable, Cargo Capacity, Low Maintenance Cost through 100,000 miles

    Cons: Gas Mileage

My Ride — Drive is nice, gas milage is a bit low but the auto 4WD plays that part and gets better in the summer months, lots of room with seating for 7. Breaking is good as well as the acceleration. Stereo system is good. Exterior styling is modern.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Lots of room and great in wet or slippery weather conditions.

    Cons: Gas milage

Again Its Awesome — its a beast....rolling with a 4.6L V8 , a custom tune, true dual exhaust and a cold air intake its like a big mustang. a little scary around corners at high speed but otherwise its awesome....more mods to come like underdrive pullies until i can afford a supercharger....and then after that possibly a 4.6L DOHC 32V....

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

    Pros: its awesome

    Cons: nothing

Ford Explorer — good family car, needs more power, good handling on the road, ugly shape the new shape it looks muc better, it has 4.0 V6 engine with 210 BHP which compare to the body weight it is too low, at the end it is good for family, and it is cheap to own and maintain

    Primary Use: Family transportation

    Pros: cheap

    Cons: ugly shape

Ford Explorer Xlt — The performance of this truck is great. It is build great compared to other Ford model cars. The appearance is very nive, great exterior which I would love to have some things done to is still great. The interior is Leather & wood grain throughout. It has 2nd & 3rd row seating, or extra cargo. It is pretty good on gas, especially on long trips. It is a pretty fun car.

Pros: Good all around!! 3rd row seating or extra cargo area.

    Cons: Nothing really
