The 2002 Toyota Avalon saw no notable changes for the model year.
The 2002 Toyota Avalon comes in two trim levels, the XL and the more luxurious XLS. Both trims come standard with a 3.0-liter, 210 horsepower V6 engine. The XL is nicely equipped, including cruise control, antilock breaks, and a number of other comfort features. The XLS includes a few more niceties, like an upgraded sound system, alloy wheels, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Fuel efficiency is 21/29 mpg.
Owners of the 2002 Toyota Avalon love the car for its spacious interior, excellent handling, and high-end appointments. Many drivers find the steering is not crisp enough and the suspension is too soft.

This car is a 2002 car,but the features in are 2021, everything a luxury car (lexus) has a Toyota Avalon has.the Value increased for me during the last few snow storms when I was really cruising down the highway watching a lot of newer model cars in ditches and on the side of the road,its missing a jack to plug in aux cord,thats it.okay one more thing the rides are a little rough,thats it.my car was perfect cause I kept up the maintenance after the owner, a car company messed my car up thats the only reason I got rid of it. I am looking for one as I TYPE THIS MESSAGE.SERIOUSLY.May 05, 2021

This car was inherited, so we didn't have much choice about what it looks like or how it is equipped. It has more power than our 2009 base Impala. I think it is dependable, but replacing the timing belt was pretty expensive ($1000). Ours has everything on it one could ask for without stepping up to the XLS trim level. It is mostly used around town, commuting and long trips with 3 grown people. It performs well and gets decent gas mileage. It is starting to look dated, has over 200K on the clock, and will be replaced in the next couple of years.May 04, 2015

The space in this car is its main selling feature. Plenty of cargo space to fit multiple suitcases in the trunk. You can comfortably sit tall people in the back seat directly behind other tall people. The main draw back is the dated look and technology of the car.Sep 08, 2013

I enjoyed the heated seats. I've owned several vehicles in my life time, and this one in particular is nice. Has that cadillac ride, smooth, relaxing, quiet. I really enjoy the vehicle, but it belonged to my now wife, and I recently purchased her a new Lexus Sedan. Feb 05, 2012

This car is great has some really great features about it like leather trim, sunroof, and even butt warmers. And even though it perfoms perfectly and gets pretty good has mileage (23-25). Theres never over looking the fact that it does look a little bit like a grandma/grandpa car.Aug 31, 2008

I am a high mileage driver and these things are fabulous. 81,000 miles and drives like it did 2 years ago when i got it with 15,000 miles on it. Just wish i had cloth seats because leather is very comfortable but hot on the legs and back in the summer.Apr 24, 2007

2002 Toyota Avalon Auto Lights on/no tail lights
2002 Toyota Avalon When the Auto lights are on during the day, the dashboard lights are on. When the Auto lights are on during the day, the taillights are not on. When the Headlights are switched on during the day the dashboard lights become so dim as to be unreadable. In a daytime severe rainstorm, snow storm, or fog it is desirable to have the headlights and thus the taillights on. But the dash lights go off. The knob to twist to adjust dash lights apparently does not work. The adjustment is so little, the dash lights cannot be seen. Either something is wrong with the adjustment knob or is this is a terrible design flaw in this car. Can anything be done to fix this problem?
