The interior of the car was not only dirty, but it is extremely worn. The exterior has major rust to it. The truck is way overpriced .

My Impressions Of The Dakota — All in all, I believe that the Dakota has filled a niche between the small wimpy lightweight pickups and the full-sized ones. I was sorry to see Dodge discontinue the series as it is just the right size and power for what I do at my home. The truck rides and handles well, stays with traffic on the freeway, the gas mileage is so-so at about 16-18 mpg depending on my right foot and the overall repair costs are comparable to any other vehicles that I have owned. Acceleration is decent, but not head-turning, braking is good and I do enjoy driving this truck both on and off road. Just remember that 4WD is no better on ice than any other vehicle.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: I have owned Dodge Dakotas and Durangos since 1993 when I got my first Dakota.  Overall, it has been a great experience with very few problems.

Cons: The '93 Dakota 5 speed transmission seized up twice, was rebuilt the first time by Dodge and then replaced when it went out again.  My present 2002 Dakota is maintained on a regular basis and has had zero problems.

Very Handy To Own — My Dodge Dakota has been to New Jersey and back and to Texas and back with no problems at all. Both trips we hauled stuff there and back , and the truck handled well on the interstate; and also preformed well in town.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Very handy with four doors and a bed to haul in.

Cons: Decent but not great fuel mileage

Great Truck! — I have owned this car for 2 years and love it. Powerful engine and fully functional 4wd makes this a great work truck. I would definitely recommend this truck to those in a profession that requires a dependable truck. Maintenance costs are low and gas mileage is good for the engine size. Overall great truck1

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Very comfortable ride

Cons: single cab only allows one passenger

2002 Dodge Dakota — I have owned the truck since 2004 and 15,000 miles. I have never regreated the purchase . It is and has been a great truck. Unlike other smaller trucks it has enough room to seat 3 adults across the seat. The factory towing package , lets you tow up to 7,000 lb. trailer. with heavy duty Alternator, and oil cooler.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Very dependable very comfortabe truck on long trips. Very good visability, bullet proof engine

Cons: the only thing I dislike about this truck is the gas milage. around town 12-14 mpg, hiway up to 20 mpg, maybe 21 if you play with it.

The Dodge Dakota Is A Great Vehicle! — I like this vehicle because its rough enough for work, but great to lug the family around on the weekend. Great truck to own. Compared to other V-8 tucks the gas mileage was still really good. Smooth and quiet ride.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: This is a great, affordable truck. It handles excellent, maintenance cost is low and its a great family truck.

Cons: Exterior was not perfect.

Dodge Dakota Quad Cab Good Compromise For Families. — I would highly recommend the Dakota Quad Cab for those who need a pickup and room for passengers. Sometimes you need both, and the Dakota Quad Cab does the job. It rides like a truck but there is plenty of room for you and the kids, or you and some friends. The dog or camping gear can ride in the back.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Power, 4x4, Reliability, Looks.

Cons: MPG.

Its Ok — Not a bad truck...wouldnt buy another one though. Ive had it 4 years and only once did she cause trouble. Rotors seem to warp easily, ball joints needed every couple years, and makes weird noises but keeps on going!!!!

Pros: its hot

Cons: its needs regular maintenance
