Wicked — Love the looks and muscular stance, comfortable for short or long journey for 5 + luggage. Good gas mileage on the expressway but not bad for city as well. Fast and reliable beast. This is, BMW is the ultimate driving machine!

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: One of the best year and model of the X5's with adequate power and great looks. Reliable as long as you maintain it.

Cons: It's a BMW so cost is not going to be low as a domestic or asian import.

Solid Yet Sporty. — The repair bills added up over the nine years I owned it. It is still a solid car with no rust but too many things need replacing: tranny slips bad, driver-side rear door does not open, fan stays on even with the car off and keys in my pocket, wet floor on passenger side probably from a leaky windshield. All that said, this car has been a good performer it's whole life.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: 240,000 miles!  Back and forth across the country several times while towing a single axle enclosed trailer.

Cons: Expensive to repair.  Tranny needed rebuilding twice.

We Love It And It Has Awesome Power!!! — Performance, the BMW X5 has awesome acceleration, braking, handling. Build Quality, German engineering at its best. Appearance, both interior and exterior styling are super sexy. Cost of Ownership, gas mileage, maintenance...it has a 20 gallon gastank, so cost around $60 USD or so to fill up, but you are going to get at least 400 mile on a full tank, so it actually last the week Fun Factor, the BMW X5 is awesome to drive!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Dawn wanted something German and all wheel drive, for our bad winters here.

Cons: If you don't have the money, but always buy a supplemental warranty.

I Think It's Worth It. — It's a lifted station wagon that handles like a car, and costs roughly a kidney a year to maintain. It is also loud enough and quick enough to get you in trouble in about 10 seconds. The design is good enough where people think it's new, even though it's 8 years old.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: It's fun

Cons: Cost of maintenance

2002 X5 — Performance and handling are amazing, you can drive extremely high speeds with confidence and great control. On the down side, regular maintenance and check ups are required every few thousand miles Appearance is good, both inside and outside. is this car fun to drive? This car has presence! it makes you feel good just by sitting in it

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: looks, performance, handling

Cons: frequent maintenance

A Car This Big Shouldnt Be Able To Do What It Does..... — Awesome!! A joy to drive. The roar from the V8. Sweet exhaust note. Loads of torque. Handles like a sports car. Seriously. Put the box into manual sports mode. Nice!! I still look back at it when I park up. I love it.

Pros: V8 power

Cons: Likes a drink.

Second Home — It's my second home! I have a real relationship with this car. I know that sounds funny, but it is....It's the perfect familycar, and you can fit a lot in it. Ikea runs are no problem at all! Plus I have never had any complaints about BMW service, which is just super. The X5 is my 4th BMW, I started with a 316 in 1988, going through the newer model 318td, then the 525tds, but the X5 is farout the best car I've ever driven. I live in Portugal and I know of some other big (german) makes that have real bad service, that is also one of the points why I would stick with BMW, alongside the fact that I never had any bad experience and I like the way it handles. i hear the X6 is a marvelous car..that is on my next car wish list...

Pros: The power

Cons: Nothing

Bmw X5 3.0d — It's the 3.0 Diesel and it's great in torque, performance and fuel economical...handling is great too and still looks good after all these year having owned it from new till today. no regrets and it's a definite must have is you are ever shopping for a SUV that built tough, looks that still hold and keep and performance with the fuel economy...diesel's way to go.

Pros: Still looks great with exceptional performance, ride and handling...

Cons: Nothing at all...
