Fast And Responsive — Exterior design with rounded fenders is more attractive and aerodynamic than predecessors and in a way it resembles more the old beloved 356 than the earlier angular 911's. Plastic bumpers are a reality for all new vehicle so I can't complain even if I dislike them. Interior details are a bit lacking especially in the center console and door panels, which scratch easily if not very careful. "Magic Mender" does the trick though. This Carrera is the best Porsche I have ever owned, it is quick, agile and and feels completely safe on any surface. Gone is the extreme over-steer and the front end lift under acceleration, and at 0-60 in 5 seconds the 996 it is nothing to sneer at. This series has been vilified by so called "purists", accused of wide spread engine failures, and other terrible mechanical and aesthetic defects, etc. However, when one takes into account that more than 175,000 996's were built and only about 2,000 have had major reported problems, it does not seem that bad, does it? In fact, I do not remember any Porsche series that did not suffer in small percentages some endemic mechanical failure. Like in every high performance sports cars ever built, meticulous maintenance and the avoidance of abuse is the key.to a long and enjoyable trouble free life, and what's most important: IT IS AFFORDABLE! Remeber! DOT NOT MISTAKENLY shift into third gear instead of fifth, when you are at 7,000 rpm. Perhaph you'll avoid a catastrophich engine failure. If like me you are lucky enough to own one, just "turn the key and start the heart". Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Best 911 I ever owned Cons: Back seat cargo capacity reduced from air cooled models ![]() Looking for a Used 911 in your area?CarGurus has 6,671 nationwide 911 listings starting at $11,995. |

In Hand — Overall this is a very good car, I found it fun to drive in the summer months. Surprisingly the fuel economy is pretty good, better than 25 to 28 MPG. I was surprised at how refreshing it is to ride with the top down. Pros: Nice curb appeal Cons: Trunk is a small |

Love It — This must be one of the best cars that Porsche makes. I like the smooth acceleration of this car and torque. The rear seat is non existent. Gas economy isn't that great. Love it anyway and would be it again. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Handling, performance, reliable Cons: High cost of maintenance, rear seat |

Good Looks And Performance. — I like everything about the car. It has been reliable and easy to maintain. Being my second Porsche, it was definitely the most fun. Soon it will be time for another one, and this baby will have to go so the next owner can enjoy it too. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Fun car to drive. Comfortable enough for long trips. One of the lightest models of water cooled 911's. It can outrun most mustangs, camaros, and a few corvettes in a straight line, and more so on winding roads. Cons: The back seats are better suited for children, but can accommodate teens for an intermediate trip. |

A Timeless Sculpture Of A Car That In Impossible Not To Enjoy Driving. — The Porsche 911 Carrera 4 is a forced to be reckoned with. The infamous Porsche 3.4L H6 DOHC 24V FI Engine with 300 naturally aspirated horsepower, paired with the beautiful all wheel drive system make it impossible not to love. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Incredible handling and agility. Luxurious ride and details that make German cars the golden standard of craftsmanship. Cons: Gas mileage is good compared to some comparable cars, but it could be better. The rear seating space is limited to five minute rides and briefcases. |

Fun Summer Car — This is a great second car. Kids fit in the back seats with a carseat and a booster seat. They'll probably fit comfortaly until they are 12 years old or so. For being a performance car, the maintenance is very reasonable. In fact, it is not different from most other cars. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Great second car. Cons: None |

Porsche Review — 3 Questions asked by total strangers and friends alike: How much did it cost? How fast does it go? And Can I drive it? Drag raced a Ferrari once. Got beat but it was a blast. Loved drving it - but hated parking lots and rocks. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: A nicely tuned package - power, looks, handling. Cons: Parking lots! |
