My new to me 2000 Mazda has no dash lights. How do I access the interior fuse box and what do I need to test fuses?

The Mazda MX-5 Miata was available in two new trim packages for 2000. In addition to the Base Miata, LS and SE (Special Edition) models were added to the lineup. All three were powered by a 140-horsepower, 1.8-liter inline 4-cylinder engine. A 5-speed manual transmission was standard on the Base and LS models, while the Special Edition Miata came with a 6-speed manual transmission. A 4-speed automatic was optional on the Base and LS models.
The Miata's list of standard equipment was expanded for 2000, and included power brakes, power steering, power exterior mirrors, dual airbags, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, alloy wheels, and an audio system with CD player. The LS and Special Edition models added power door locks, cruise control and leather seats, among other features.
The most common comment from drivers was that the Mazda Miata was fun to drive, with a quickness, sporty styling, and responsive handling that appealed to lovers of sports cars. On the downside, drivers noted that the interior could be cramped, as expected on a car this size, and that the car lacked high-end options. On the other hand, the Miata had always been appreciated for its simplicity, so perhaps the lack of luxury options was by design rather than negligence.

Great cars for the weekend, handles like a go cart. Nice for day trips, would have only for a weekend car. Lack of versatility does not make for a good daily driver. For a manual top, is super easy to put up and down. As a second car, you can not go wrong.Dec 27, 2014

This is a perfect car for town or highway driving. Not ideal as a family car, but for a road-trip for two, or even a commuter car, it works well. No better way to arrive at work than in a convertible! It handles very well - hugs the road, and this Special Edition has amazing wood trip and an incredible Bose sound system.Aug 31, 2014

This is a great looking and driving little sports car. The seats are supportive and smooth leather. Shifter feel is excellent, wooden steering wheel is great. 200watt Bose stereo sounds great even with the top down! 4 sport tires with full thread and matching fiberglass hardtop is included. Mx-5s aren't about raw power, they're about balance and nimble road handling. They inspire driving confidence and reward proper sport driving techniques. Miata's are truly the best bang for your buck driver's cars. Only selling bc/ this house bought two brand new Miatas and parking space is getting thin.Mar 11, 2014

This car is perfect for long rides on beautiful days with the top down. It moves so quickly that it gets in and out of traffic and is a smooth ride that you can also count on as a daily driver.Jul 26, 2013

really fun to drive, its very sporty, and the mazda quality is acceptable but not fantastic. the proformance is really fun especially with a manual transmission. its a handful to drive in the snow with the rwd and stick, but if your good enuf you can have a lot of fun with that little car Sep 21, 2009

What a great car. Superbly balanced, perfect manual gearbox and totally connected to the road. Even after adding more than 300 additional horsepower to the factory 116hp at the wheels, the car was still extremely well balanced. I can't wait to buy another one and do another turbo setup.Aug 13, 2009

interior are great, but it's an SE trim, so it had better
be great! Good mileage. Turns heads. Hard top is
good for bad weather. Softtop is mainly down when

excellent buy, The pocky 1.6 engine doesn't disappoint with its performance and economical on fuel, after doing heavy reseach since buying my motor for you tuning nutz the 1.8 vision on the mk2 is easier to get performance parts, but its two insurance brackets higher and the the difference of 30bhp i couldn't warrent spending the extra cash, they handel as well as the reviews a pleasure to throw it into a bend, being a base model no abs but i love the raw feel of the car! a must buy for a driving nut! plus driving down the country roads with the lid down brings a whole different concept to world, i love it! I love my car. Being a total girl, I've called it James. It's a turn of the century mx5 icon, vin rouge paintwork, cream leather seats and wooden Torino steering gubbins... Very elegant! After years of driving hot hatches, which were good, driving James seems to crank it up a notch. Although just a 1.8 (at the time the highest engine spec) it really does go and the handling is excellent. Recently had to have a hire car and the fuel efficiency was close to that of a basic and much less fun, VW Polo 1.2E... Stunning motor, and I'm so glad he's mine!!!Jul 30, 2008

The car is cheap, fun, and sweet. To add to it, we
have an evolution orange mica one. There were less
than 400 made of this color in the world. We have
only needed to replace the air conditioning once.
That was only because my mom decides to BLAST
the AC with the top down... Haha. I love it. It's the
most fun car to drive, my parents say, and I can't
wait until I get to drive it. It's also got great gas
milage! It gets between 30 and 40 MPG on the
highway. My Miata is amazing and I wouldn't trade

these cars are very fun to drive for the money. great power to weight ratio for the stock engine. turbos make them extremely fast. they also make a V-8 kit which is 4k but its worth it. they dont have very much room though and dont get the gas mileage you would expect. Apr 10, 2008

Fantastic, affordable little car - comes in 3 models: Mk1 or NA (frog eye headlamps 1989 - 1998), Mk2 / 2.5 or NB (1998 - 2005) and Mk3 or NC (Mk3 comes also as Roadster Coupe - from 2005 - present). I own a NB, (1.6 B6 engine), and its main plus point over the other later models is that it is lower to the ground and, over all, more sporty. The later models have all the gadgets and toys, but this in turn has not done the car any favours, as it is heavier than the older models. The NA was the lightest of the models, weighing in at approx 940kg. The NB stands at 1000kg, and the NC has an additional 95kg on top of that - mainly due to the more powerful engine.
The MX-5, being a rear wheel drive, is a bit of a nightmare on wet roads - handling is not so easy, and often the car is inclined to drift into corners. However, newer models have Traction Control which does help. Also snowy or icy conditions are not good for the '5!!!
On the whole it is an extremely fun car to drive. I love mine, and have never regretted buying it!Apr 06, 2008

I owned this car when I lived in England, and had to sell it when we moved to the United States. While I owned it, I was in car heaven! This was such a cool car to drive - and I mean that literally. (If you've ever driven an open-topped car in England you'll know that it is a COOL experience - more like bloody freezing!)
I loved this car, and was heartbroken when I sold it before we moved. Unfortunately, while I owned my Mazda, I was involved in an accident when an uninsured driver ran into the back of it at traffic lights, then pushed me into the back of another car. This made me a little nervous about buying such a "diddy" little car in the US, because it did not stand up well to the impact. Still a gorgeous little car!Mar 31, 2008

Had the 2.0liter over summer of 2004. Basically pushed me into the roadster/sportscar camp well and trully. Responsive, quick, nippy. If you wanted to compare it to anything you'd probabley say it were reef shark or blue shark-it'd take a chunk or two out of you but you'd be alright-its not the great white that would eat you whole. The 2000 Mazda Miata is a perfect little roadster. The car is fun to drive, especially on curved and winding roads. COnsidering that it is not a powerhouse, the car is surprisingly fast and looks and handles like cars priced at much higher pricepoints. Jul 21, 2007

2000 MX-5 Miata Won't Start
Okay so... I just bought a car from a kid. Really good deal just based on the price he gave me and the excellent body condition of the car. For reference, I rebuilt a 1992 NA Miata a half year prior to this so I thought I had a good grasp on fixing this. Turns out however I don't really know why this thing won't start. Perhaps someone will have an estimation of what I can try. So the kid had this car for about a yearish, judging by the DMV paper work I got on it. He said recently that he attempted to 'fix' the cars engine bay fuse box because the guy he bought it from had apparently 'modified' it to some degree. I don't know what said modifications were, however after removing and replacing the car would not start. And before anyone asks I know this car is not stolen. I have the proper verification that it is not. After some more tweaking he tore apart the fusebox and gave up, selling it to me for a good price. I put back all the fuses and ensured the wires were okay. Car does not start. Fuel pump actuates (I can hear it). Power comes on, Lights and chimes work. Clutch safety works. The immobilizer light doesn't come on (I don't have an original key) The Cylinder turns to full run position. I checked timing and everything is in place where it should be. (161k Miles on it) Yet when I turn the engine over, the engine spins for one single second before it stops. Holding the starter for longer will result in a loud popping and a smell of something burning. I need some help ASAP thank you.

Went to start it yesterday morning, and completely dead. Tried to jump start and nothing. Charged it all day and finally got fully charged. Headlights came on, nothing else, no dash lights, wouldn't turn over.
