As the world gets set to start a new century, Buick decides to celebrate with a Special Edition version of its aptly named Century mid-size sedan. Sharing many stylistic and body characteristics with the Regal, the 2000 Buick Century is cheaper and is Buick's most popular seller for its combination of roomy family-friendly interior and affordable price tag. The new SE joins the base Custom and Limited in the lineup, and they all get a new 3.1-liter V6 engine that hits 175-hp, a 15-hp boost from last year. A new 4-speed automatic is the only transmission. Improvements to the manifold and exhaust boost the power of the new engine and increase highway fuel economy to a decent 30 mpg.
Other additions this year is standard dual-zone climate control, which is electronically controlled in the SE. The Special Edition features 2000 logos, a monochrome exterior, leather seats, 6-way power driver's seat, and wheel-mounted audio controls. All of the 2000 Century sedans have ABS brakes, traction control, full power features, remote entry, a tire monitor, and dual front airbags. The Limited and SE add leather seats and side impact airbags. Rear seats do not fold, but the trunk is ample, at 16.7 cubic feet. Front seats feature a fold-down armrest/storage compartment.
With its great gas mileage, comfortable interior, and quiet and smooth ride, the 2000 Century is popular as a family car, and is reliable and roomy for long trips, according to owners. Drivers wish it had a bit more power and less wind noise from the rear windows.

The car is very dependable, I have had it for a while now and it starts everyday. The only thing I have replaced is one tire and an air filter! However the 3100 V6 motor it has is known for intake manifold gasket and head gasket failure which kind of worries me. The car is super easy to drive though and floats down the road, and she has PLENTY of get up when you need it. The cloth seats are really comfortable too. and the car is very spacious, plenty of room for 5, but it will seat 6! The trunk is really big as well. The automatic headlights are awesome, and makes you kind of take the luxury for granted lol. Any ?'s feel free to ask.

July 12, 2013This car was excellent to learn driving with. It had good features all around except for its drab interior. Thanks to a good-quality car and a great instructor, I learned the proper way to drive. I'm also thankful that my high school offered a Driver Education course. After practicing my driving for some period of time, my first Driver's Permit was replaced by my first Driver's License. Hooray! Ha ha.

February 13, 2008Accelerates from 0-60 in 10.2 seconds, at least with 80K on it. The interior is 100% granny approved gas mileage is amazing, has a 12-14 gallon tank and costs about $24 to fill. One slightly significant repair when purchased. ABS is the first usually to go on these.
March 10, 2009I bought it used from a private seller. It's body is in rough shape and is really showing the rust. The engine hasn't given me any problems - only had to replace brakelines, change oil, brake pads things like that. Looks like junk, but still drives reliably.
December 10, 2014Only changing cars due to desire for a newer model and different color Everything about this car is great and even my service station and the dealers have commented that it is a great car. Very comfortable seats and lots of space. Easy to drive and gives you the safety of driving a bigger car other than an SUV. More luxury.
September 2, 2011it has a strong engine. can go up to 350 000 km before getting old. very safe. can hold up to 6. v6 cylinder engine. made in america. wont be worth much in canada.looks pretty cool.is pretty comfortable to drive in. it sometimes needs small repairs. i like this car because most people enjoy driving this car.good handling.good acceleration.
November 7, 2009It's actually my wife's car. Its solid, safe, and durable. The engine is the same as in a Pontiac Grand Prix, so it's got some power with options for more. The stock sound system is fairly powerful. Lots of trunks space.
October 13, 2009Well! It's a gramma car! but it gets great gas mileage, and has all the options I want except for leather and a sunroof! It has a pretty good stereo considering it's all factory. It's built fairly good, and it rides very nicely! The acceleration is great off the line but it seems to fall short once it gets to 60km/h. There are a few adjustments I would like to make to the cars appearance such as after market rims, and window tint! But that will come later. Over all considering what I need a vehicle for, it fits into my life almost perfectly!
October 19, 2008I inherited this car from my father after he passed away. It is a very smooth, comfortable car to drive and gets awesome gas mileage. Took a long trip and got 32 miles per gallon. Very good with a V6. My 16 year old son loves it.
