I recently purchased a 1999 Mazda Miata MX5; it is fun to drive, and fun to work on, as its my hobby.

Party In A 1999 — I purchased a Red 1999 Mazda Miata with tan leather interior, Bose sound system, P/W and P/L. It's a great little car. She was just over $5,000 and had just over 60,000 miles on it! All in all it was an enjoyable car to drive. Not as luxurious as some of the other cars I've owned, but if you're looking for an affordable 2 seat convertible, this is the one to look for!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Zippy to drive.  Great Gas Mileage.  Glass rear window with defroster.  Available Bose audio system.

Cons: Space inside is tight. Teensy trunk.

Great Runner... — Enjoyed the warm nights driving through the city, the sounds, smells everything. Nothing like a roadster, enjoyed it for three summers. Bucket list is slowly being crossed off. New York doesn't have alot of great summer nights so the ones that we have must be enjoyed.

Pros: Fun, fun, fun... Great date night driving along the lake.

Cons: Driving with the top up...

The Most Fun You Can Have For $4k — The A/C is week, but still strong enough to affect acceleration. Otherwise, I love it. It's cheap to own, fun to drive, and the top goes down, or up, before the traffic light turns green. I need a new set of tires, but I've been having too much fun sliding around corners. Maybe I change them soon.

Pros: Fun to drive. Top goes up/down in seconds.

Cons: People in other cars don't see you.

An Absolute Blast To Drive — I've had this Miata for several years. It started out awesome, but under powered. After quite a bit of deliberation I took the leap and purchased an entry level turbo kit from Flyin Miata. The Voodoo II. That was fun, but the engine management of that system left me with something to be desired. After a few years with that kit, a few years sent overseas in Japan, and my dog eating some wiring in the car when it wasn't tucked away, I decided to upgrade to bigger injectors, updraded clutch, new ECU, lightened flywheel. Since those mods, the car has been all the more entertaining. Quite an enjoyable car.

Pros: This car has been extremely fun and the maintenance costs have not been high.

Cons: Mileage sucks after adding the turbo and larger injectors.  I need to get it back into the shop to have the Hydra Nemesis 2.7 ECU tuned better.

Fun — I am 57 and having a blast with this car. I have owned it 6 yrs and drove it 60 K miles in nearly all conditions and it has performed wonderfully. I live on the coast of NC and take frequent trips to the mountains and drive 80 plus on the interstate with plenty of room to spare and feel safe. This car takes mountain curves like no other vehicle I have ever owned. Wherever I go this little car turns heads. Maintenance is easy and very low for the DIY person and reliability is unsurpassed. My car has 136K on it now and shows no sign of giving up.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: To me everything about this car is a pro right down to the way it makes me feel when I drive it.

Cons: Brakes have always performed well but would like to feel a harder pedal.

Empty-nest Mobile — As a Daily Driver, Lucy ROCKS! Two-tone Nardi Leather steering wheel and shifter, two-tone Nardi suede seats. Six-speed -- no other Miata model had a six-speed in '99. Polished steel 15" wheels; ABS, Power Steering, power door locks, power windows, etc.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Only $10k, delivered from Studio City, CA, to Kearney, NE; Hardtop included

Others were selling for $13k, no HT, no delivery.

Cons: Nothing

The Best 2-seater Money Can Buy And Money Can Afford. — No finer car to have fun with. You can get the top down most any time of the year, only rain is a pain. One passenger seat means never having to drive the mother in- law. Not that I have one.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Nothing goes wrong.

Cons: Roof ages and has to be replaced
