What owners say
"Overall, Ford Escort owners appreciate the car's reliability and good fuel economy, often mentioning that it is a solid, inexpensive choice for a compact car. They enjoy its handling and acceleration, though some believe it could be faster. Many drivers also note the vehicle's comfort and interior space as positives. On the downside, several owners have reported issues with parts wearing out easily and some have expressed dissatisfaction with the car's design features such as the front-wheel drive system and air conditioning performance."
I have had this car for almost nine years with only minimal problems. The maintenance has consisted of new tires and battery only. It does what I need it to do, get me back and forth with no problems.
July 11, 2007Performance- Has pretty good acceleration for a 4 cylinder and good handling! The ride is a little crashy but nothing not to expect with an economy car. The braking is ok but the petal feels spongy with too much travel. Build Quality- Has decent build quality although it is very cheaply built. The dash as nice "soft" plastics and the rest of the car is bare bones essentials. Repairs are minimal and only appear after ample wear to the part. The car is very reliable. Appearence- I personally think the car looks kinda of angry and when lowered the car has an aggressive stance. Nice look over all. Interior is nothing flashy but gets the job done! Cost of ownership-This car is great on gas averaging around 39 mpg (Imp) or 32 mpg (US). Costs under $40 to fill up from empty. Maintenance is cheap and all the parts are in-expensive. Very easy to maintain. Fun Factor- This car is a blast to drive with the right upgrades. I have a couple upgrades on mine: Escort GT rear sway bar, front and rear strut bars, short shifter, zx2 front seats, Weapon R cold air intake, and a beautiful sounding Magnaflow muffler.
March 2, 2010Best £800 I ever spent, Its got PS, EW, RCL, SR, Heated Front Screen, 1.8 115ps (standard form) engin plus more. Its been ever so slightly modded since Ive had it though, its now got the following; Full RS2000 Body Kit GTI 15" alloys Plasma Glow Dials Full Sound System GTI Half-Leather Interior DVD player Smoked Headlights One-off modded rear light clusters Full PowerFlow Exhaust system -40mm GMAX shocks and springs. All in all, its a bargain.. it handles exceptionally well, the bright white paint turns heads and its performance is enough to see off most cars, even bigger engined ones.

February 11, 2008When I settled on a school in a big city, I went looking for a good used car that would be ideal for that. And I found what I was looking for. The car has a 16 Valve, 2.0 L engine, despite being a little over 2000 lbs, so it has a lot of pick-up. Fits into a lot of tight spaces and handles well around curves. Very reliable engine. The biggest expense so far is getting an O2 sensor.
December 10, 2007Loved this car! I bought it new with only 320 miles. Drove it for 7 yrs and was up to 143,000 miles! Never had to do anything other than basics like brakes and belts. Sorry that my teenager ended up totally it!
November 18, 2007Bought this car used from a private seller. The car had some prominent scratches, paint-losses and dings from the previous owner, owing to parking lot damages. That did not bother me much because I was getting a pretty good deal for the car. Despite the age, the car has served me well as my primary vehicle. i have occasionally driven long distances on it, some times hesitatingly, but have been surprised to find all parts intact and not falling off even on such long drives. Overall I am impressed with the performance of the car and have been happy to have owned it for over a year now.
July 14, 2012Screw the looks and performance i'd like to see anyone else get in a wreak at about 75-80 mph on the highway and get nailed by a mustang head on and survive this car saved mine and my best friends life. call it an emotional attachment but it was godsend to me for a reason. loved my little red scort
February 19, 2010Performance - the acceleration is very quick, the braking is excellent, and the handling is very good. Build Quality - the repairs ive done to it was repair some rusting just below the driver and passenger doors. No rattles or squeaks. Appearance - the interior is okay and nice and the exterior is very nice designed Cost of Ownership - i get about 23 city/30 highway Fun Factor - This car is fun to drive.
October 18, 2009This was actually one of the best made cars I've ever owned. Had we not gotten pregnant and my wife wanting a larger vehicle we'd probably still own it. It was fun to drive, got great fuel economy and was comfy, even for my 6'1" frame.
August 17, 2009Bought car with 98,000 miles now has 156,000, but has not had any major powertrain problems. A/C control broke, but that has been only major repair needed. Gets great gas milage, and has been a very reliable car for me, a college student. Would recommend to anyone wanting reliable car.
