It Takes You There — We had this one for 7 or 8 years.... its a car, takes you from a to b its not really ugly, and its not bad at all.... may be a little bit boring.... but when one is doing a lot of other stuff... this car does take you from a to b and you do not have to worry about it... i think its about 13 Passats to the dozen... this one had the combination of being a sedan, having the Syncro (4x4) and the 1,9 tdi 110 bhp engine .... thats the ain reason we held on to it for all those years. the next owner wrecked it.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Cons: Its a boring car but there is not much to hate about it...

My Impressions When I First Got It Was That It Was Going To Be A Great Car But It Really Wasn't — The first week after buying this car (brand new) Black exhaust was being shot back into my vehicle, the windows got stuck when i was putting them down. The Headliner started falling down, It was VERY bad on gas, It constantly overheated, It leaked oil. I took it to the shop to get it repaired and it cost me $1800 to get it completely repaired.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: i have no pros for this car

Cons: everything about it was negative

97 Vw Passat V6 Sedan — got it for free, so its hard not to appreciate. the twisting knobs to adjust the seats is so annoying, though. i like the firmness of the handbrake. can't get it on the road yet, tranny is annoying, because the fluid can't be accessed via the engine compartment. its a "sealed" tranny, which means i need to pick up the entire car to get to it. Would like to replace the seats. Amazing stereo system.

Pros: strong V6 engine, firm handbrake

Cons: Unattractive appearance, sealed tranny, difficult seats

Vw Passat 1997 - 1.6i 101hp — Overall, a great car, has some issues with the build quality but the performance is really amazing. Its a 1.6i engine, quite fast acceleration. The engine is very economical, I hardly fill her up once a month. It is very fun to drive, amazingly agile. It's appearance is amazing, a really beautiful car.

Pros: Amazing Looks, Good performance, Very Agile

    Cons: Engine stability issues

Super Fab Vw Passat — -Fabulous gas mileage 37-43 mpg -sleek, yet funny looking design -turbo diesel helps it pick up and go -quirky rattles and road noise typical of VWs -solid build -expensive to repair (it's a VW) -this is a high mileage, economy car -comfy ride -would recommend most TDI's (although 2000 is a bad year I hear) -Has treated me well, has not yet broken down -need to remember to get timing belt changed so you don't blow your engine up...but that is on any car. -but don't just listen to me...do your research!!!!

Pros: gas mileage, comfy ride, standard performance

Cons: '97 VW notorious for electrical issues, repairs on VW are expensive, but well worth it for a TDI

Miss The Old Girl ! — After owning for 5 years with no trouble at all ! Performance after chipping it with a simple £75 tuning chip,Reformed this everyday car into a sports car,Also adding another easy 200 miles to a full tank of mixed vegi oil and normal diesel of which it ran on happily. Repairs needed were only that of new battery and a set of four new alloys and 2 sets of tyres. Costs of running all depended how much free used vegi oil i could be bothered to filter. Fun factor was reasonable with the low down torque, Enabled easy overtaking.

Pros: Bullet proof engine would run happily on most household vegi-rapeseed oils with out any modifications.

Cons: On a P plate is was getting old.
