What would make my rpm race upon starting the car, and cause jerking when stopping and going again?

Powerful, comfortable and reliable car with decent fuel economy and handling,
Perfect for long trips with family on highway. Huge trunk is good for any luggage.

The intek v 32 valve engine is one of the best. I have driven mine for 208,000 miles so far with any major repairs. I have kept up all maintenance as suggested by Ford. The fine leather interior has lasted and is just now developing cracks in the drives seat. This is still one of the finest looking cars on the road today, a true land yacht. Gas mileage runs 19-21 miles per gallon. With the sunroof open and all the windows down driving it has a fun factor of 10/10. Incase you can't tell, I am still in love with my continental after all these years.Aug 30, 2010

Lots of power with a 4.6 DOHC V-8 has almost every option you can get except CD player :( With 280 hp it could burn rubber if you want it to. Nice and comfy leather heated seats and great for long trips and general driving. Thats the stuff you can only find in a Lincoln or Caddy! Only had to pay $4,000 with safety/e-test and liscensing taken care of.Jul 30, 2008

How do I install my stereo without factory plugs?
So a few months ago I got my 1997 lincoln continental and the owner had cut the factory plugs off of the stereo and no longer has the manuel. I'm left with a bunch of wires I have no idea what they mean. Should any one of you guys maybe have a color coding thing for me so I know how to properly wire my stereo?

Cost of repair
My 97 continental blows only hot air and I was just told that the AC compressor needs to be replaced. They said the labor is about 10-12 hours and total cost between $1,000 and $1,200. Can this be right? If I decide to sell it privately, how much could I ask in this condition. This senior guy thanks you very much for taking time with this question.

Interior lights wont shut off and says door ajar
All of a sudden out of nowhere while I was driving everytime I stop my car my interior lights would come on once I started moving they would slowly dim off and my Dash says door ajar what could cause this problem and how can I fix it before it kills my battery
