I Wouldn't Recommend A '97 Accent Now, But A Newer One Is Definitely Worth It. — We loved this car, but it was "Disposable". Things broke. We sold it when it was 12 years old because it didn't make sense to keep putting money into a car that our family didn't really fit in. it didn't have a powerful engine, and it didn't run great, but it was fun to drive.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: fun, efficient, basic.

Cons: disposable, small.

1997 Hyundai Accent — Car runs great, never needs anything dramatic replaced, much easier then the american cars I have had over the years. Just change the oil and it keeps rolling. The seats are not the most comfortable but realistically you are not going to get a luxury car for this cheap that will last for years.

Pros: Runs great, only needs basic maintenance

Cons: uncomfortable seats, no power stearing, no a/c... ect.

Accent — Not a bad little runner, getting on a bit now but not bad performance from 1.5 litre engine. Bit noisy and trim very plasticky but what do you expect from the South Koreans! Hoping to change it soon for something a little bit more up to date but will get my Aston if I win the lottery!

Pros: Good runner, economical

Cons: Plastic, old, noisy

Good First Car For Someone — I hated it, no power in it, but good for a first car as reliable, cheap to insure, run etc. Handling is pretty good, interior is cheap, and some of the exterior trims are also on the cheap side

Pros: Good runner, cheap to insure etc

Cons: Difficult to sell on as no-one wants one, not really a popular car.

Reminds Me Of A 1994 Honda Civic — Runs like a Civic but some parts aren't the greatest. Some of the parts used to make Hyundais are cheap. This car eats more gas than my Honda Element (SUV).

Very basic features and the ride was not as smooth as I was hoping for. It also felt crampt inside as compared to my 2004 Hyundai Elantra which is also a small vehicle. Read More
