1997 Cadillac Seville Preview summaryImage

Cadillac added two features to the Seville for 1997: an Integrated Chassis Control System for precise braking when the car loses control and OnStar security. Besides that, the Seville stayed the same. This midsize sedan has 2 trims: the SLS and the STS. Both use a 4.6 L V8 engine with the SLS running on 275 hp and the STS bringing 300 hp. 4 speed automatic transmission comes standard. Both trims give you 17 mpg in the city, 26 on the highway. In addition, the SLS and STS have 4 doors, seat 5, and have 14.4 cubic feet of trunk space. Standard features include air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, ABS brakes, and power seats. Options include sunroof and cd player. The STS has standard leather seats. The Seville accelerates from 0-60 mph in 6.9 seconds. Once again, maintenance comes up as a recurring issue. Drivers warn that once the Seville hits around 100,000 miles, you may have to spend more than the car's depreciated value in order to keep it running. Some reviewers would like a more modern design. Otherwise, performance and handling remain smooth. In the end, make sure to enjoy the ride for as long as you can before constant maintenance goes from distant prospect to unfortunate reality.

There is nothing I dislike about this car except the 12 disc cd changer in the trunk. that should have been left out , better in the dash instead. I am a long distance truck driver and after a long trip there is nothing better than going home from work in leather heated seats!!Dec 25, 2013

Parts are expensive when you dont know how to play around the costs. Repairs can ve an extreme hassle. But the car is totally worth it. But need to be willong to do the work requiered to keep it running good. Funcar on the highway not scared To pass on the highway.Nov 12, 2013

The 97 Cadillac Seville is a great car to buy used, if it has been well taken care of by previous owners. If not then a pretty body is expensive to maintain and operate. They are, at least so far manageable issuesOct 28, 2013
