1995 Volvo 940 Turbo WagonReview

Breadwinners Favourite Donkey!!! — Alright stop pestering me! Its a 96 945 wagon, low pressure turbo. 136 brake horsepower. It use about 1 liter to get about 10 kilometers. But I live in the country with a small daughter, golden retriver and a house. Besides that i hunt - elk, deer and wild boar. This car does the lot and it gets me to work, EVERY DAY! Its not speedy, sexy or even fun to drive. Jeremy Clarkson said " it handles like a chest of drawers". But it gets me from A to B. Low repair cost. Always starts. I can fit in half the hardwarestore. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Reliability, repair cost. Cons: Milage. ![]() Looking for a Used 940 in your area?CarGurus has 1 nationwide 940 listings and the tools to find you a great deal. |

The Older The Better — This is my 4th Volvo, and although it isn't a 240, it is built with the same engine and is rear wheel drive. Haven't had too many serious problems, nothing than my backyard mechanic hubby can't fix. Once a Volvo driver, always a Volvo driver :) Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: Love the Volvo Cons: Long live the Volvo |

Thirsty Engine If You Drive Active — 945 lightpressure turbo, chip, open K&N airfilter = 200hp (or something) 1996 Easy to handle with rearwheeldrive, especially nice for drifting on winterroads. Safe to drive if you can handle rearwheeldrive, easy to feel wheen you are pushing the limits. No repairs, only service every 10000 km with use of Castrol Magnatec synthetic oil. Interior in grey/black leather, ACC, electric windows/mirrors, airbags, ABS. Extremly low cost to drive, 0,8L/mile, easy to repair, cheap maintenance, cheap spareparts Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: High quality Cons: No ESP |

Buy On The Cheap For A Comfy Motorway Journey — When it got going could really shift. cornering was an adventure. It breaked okay for a lump. Solid build but looked ugly as hell. Fun to drive if you got brass balls. Comfy ride especially on motorways, just DONT CORNER ABOVE 30 Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: comfort Cons: handling |

Bad Car — This could have been a long term relationship! It wasn't! I unsuspectingly bought a CLOCKED CAR! It read 100,000 miles, but thing it must have done 170,000 in the end. It turns out it was owned by a very dodgy car trader, who as I can't prove clocked it! The water pump was hanging out and took the cambelt clean off - a new engine & various other bits cost £3000! Anyway it was a 2.4 six cylinder gutless piece of rubbish - why Volvo fitted something out of a VW LT van is anybodies guess? Pros: Great practicality, leather, Cruise, A/C & sunroof Cons: Massive bill! |

Volvo 940 Turbo-police 1996 — One of the last models of rwd Volvos. This 1996 was a police-special with some modifications. B230FT with intercooler worked fine together with Aisin-Warner 4sp automatic transmission. Nice acceleration, reliable brakes and handling. Will start effortless below -35c. Besides service the only repairs were a hose and a fuel pump. Sold in favour for a new Megane after 380 000 km - soo stupid. Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: Will tolerate any driver, was bang for the buck Cons: Not likely to win any "Concours D'elegance". |
