I like that i got this car for free... i have been begging my mother for it since i was 13. i finally have it.. i used to have a 1995 but it had no air... it was also a dx... no power steering. then i was on my way to get it registered had no other car to drive it was unregistered by 3 years.... it got towed.. and didnt have the money to get it out. now i traded up!!!Aug 11, 2012

Its a good car to have all around! If you need a car in town or to go on a trip this is what I would take without a blink of an eye. Performance with the upgrades that i have it hauls pretty good. I only things that I've had to repair is the fuel pump which took me less than an hour to take out and put the new one in and the headlight wiring was cut so I had to do a little soldering and repair! Appearance has never been a promlem for me so yes it does have its dents and dings. Over all it fills up a tank of gas with less than 30 bucks.Feb 13, 2012

The star of this car was the engine. The 1.6L SOHC VTEC engine is a thing of wonder. Mine was overheated, and run without oil and still ran like a top with power to spare from 800-7500rpm. The rest of the drivetrain, though well warn in my car, put up with the engine's awesomeness quite well. The car as a whole was rugged, simple, and well designed. It looked nice inside and out. The ride left something to be desired on trips over about an hour and a half; the seats had no adjustable lumbar support and didn't fit my back very well. Also, that great, buzzy little engine and wind noise get pretty loud, even though my car was an EX with sound insulation and carpet; turn up the radio to compensate and by the time you finish your trip you have a headache. The a/c was adequate but you could really feel when the compressor kicked in (manual transmission car) and it made driving in town a chore and passing in 5th or 4th on the highway impossible. That wonderful little engine coupled with some judicious driving averaged me anywhere from 35 to 42 MPG. The only out-of-norm maintenance hassle was the transmission which took motor oil and required it changed every 20,000 miles (if memory serves). Oct 19, 2011

I chose the Honda the car started for me more in order to learn more about tuning, is a car that can change almost everything you do obviously need to know in order to get performance and style you want or otherwise the get to be criticized by all. You can use it both as a daily drive car with it or you can use it as competitiveness car behaves quite well and fairly basic version.Aug 17, 2011

Love my 1994 honda Civic Ex. it handles badass since i redid my suspension and lowered it. bought the car for $900 in Austin because it had a cracked taillight lens and wouldnt pass inspection. guy didnt know it would only take a 10 dollar part to pass it. its a great car to drive and race with since i just put gsr front and rear brakes on and gsr sway and torsion bars...Dec 01, 2010

Lots of acceleration and power, easily walked on a 5.0 Mustang Fastback, never needed repairs, Handling was best ive ever driven, once took it 130 around a slight curve heading to eastern washington speedo topped out and felt like I could go faster and still take the corner. Gas mileage was amazing, it was purple but it was sick, had 2000 si wheels and jdm amber corner lights & window visors. car was really fun to driveApr 02, 2010

I love this car, ever since I bought it for a record time low price... It's obnoxiously easy to work on, and parts come penny a dozen... OF course, if you drive a honda, it should be a 5 speed... It's a blast! 1.6l SOHC w/ Vtec that kicks in at about 4800rpm.... redline at 7200.. of course I never take it that high lol. Being that it was rebuilt, it has a few quirks, but overall.. nothing worth getting worried over. Slidin on 16in low pros.. looking nice. could use a paint job, but nothing major.. Jan 23, 2010

i can't get enough of my civic. the ex comes with a vtec and makes it a dream to drive, and you couldnt kill the engine with dynamite. customizing is easy. parts are cheap and you could find them under couch cushions. its my first car, but with the rate its going (a 15 year old car with no major repairs), i could see it being my last. enough said.Dec 23, 2009

performance - has very bad torque and no low end power with 1.6 SOHC VTEC, handling is quite responsive, brake has been changed, so its good. build - its a honda...its as good as a honda car appearance - the reason i got the car in the 1st place, fell in love 1st time seeing at fast and furious. interior is average. cost - very cheap to run and maintain fun - mmm...if i have money to burn on new engine like F20C, hell it'll be one heck of a carAug 17, 2009

Performance- good for a 1.6 liter but if you want more power go for the Si Build Quality- Excellent my car is 15 years old but still is mechanically solid and burn no oil. Appearance- I still think this is the best looking body style of all the Honda civics, and the interior is really pretty stylish Cost of Ownership- Other that oil changes and other preventative maintenance I have had no major issues in my 3 years of ownership. Fun Factor- Although this isn't a powerhouse it sits so low to the ground that when you through it around a bit it can be a lot of fun.Jun 01, 2009

I would go into the reliability factor of the car and the good gas mileage, but seeing as how those are already the top things you expect from a Civic it seems like it would be a waste of time. What I can say though is that it is also a very comfortable and roomy car (for its size) that has proven itself on many long-distance drives. It's also a fairly decent crap hauler for it's size. It's certainly no truck, but it is in that class of small cars I like to call "compact sports trucks", sedans and coupes that have exceptional hauling capacity for their class. Once again, this has been put to the test as I've used it to haul small furniture and it served as a moving van once. It's also a very nice car to drive, as the acceleration, breaking, and handling are all very responsive and make a car that's speedy and fun to drive on the open road and easy to to maneuver in heavy traffic or mountain roads. While I originally wanted to rank the performance one notch away from "Amazing" because I have driven cars with better performance, I felt the Civic also deserves extra credit for how well it handles driving in harsh weather conditions. I've taken it through things that any sane person would know you do not attempt to drive a car through, particularly nasty blizzards, and it handles fine for the most part. And the car is starting to have a few issues as of late, but I still rated it solid reliability because even at 14 years old all the problems it's having are just minor maintenance issues. And considering the abuse that thing has taken, I'm amazed that it still has yet to require anything major. And when I rate the appearance low that is speaking of my specific car, because it has many scratches and dents on it from heavy abuse. The only real downsides to the car are it's size and that it's a 2-door, both of which aren't even really flaws with the car so much as they are things I personally should've thought about more when I got the car.Apr 23, 2008
