As it was the base model of an economy car, the standard 1990 Mazda 323 came with few amenities. With vinyl seats and not even a cassette player, the standard 323 was decidedly no-frills. It had a 1.6-liter, 82-horsepower, four-cylinder engine. A five-speed manual transmission was standard, with a four-speed automatic available as an option. Fuel economy is about 29/37.
Most 1991 323 standard owners like their cars because they are good little commuter cars that have excellent fuel efficiency and say that with scheduled maintenance, they are quite reliable. Many complain that they are pretty basic and lack many comfort features like A/C and supportive seats.
