Performance - Well the 3.8L V6 don't really stand under performance, but it gets moving when it has to. Build - This car has about 245,000 on the clock, no rebuilds. Original tranny, and engine. That just goes to show if you keep your oil changed, and everything maintained correctly cars will run for ever! Appearance - This car don't look to bad for being a 92, a few little dings and dents but the paint shines up nice after you wax it good.Jul 16, 2009

1992 Mercury Cougar (when they still looked decent)_. I bought this car from the 2nd owner for $400. It has a bad driver side door and fender. It came with new parts already painted. Just need the time too replaced them.This V8 engine is still strong and dont smoke. This is another project pending to be started.The Mercury may even become my daily driver. Rides smooth ! trying to find value of this cougar which i now own. car hasn't been started in 15 years. vehcle was purchased by my niece's grandmother in '92. driven to garage and never moved again. 42 actual mmiles yes 000042. I am deciding whether to sell as is or have it conditioned for start-up.

Tranny slippage in OD only

I just failed AZ Emissions Ck yesterday. Not due to emissions. Transmission slippage in O/D gear position. Any other gear selections. No slippage. I can hear a vacuum leak. Sound adjustable by accelerator pressure. When in Normal D position, that vacuum sound changes with normal gear change by thy tranny. How can I troubleshoot that leak the simplest way?

i just changed the spark plugs in my 92 cougar 3.8.I had to idle it up so it would stay running in drive.Now when I drive it for about 30 minutes or so.It seems to hesitate when I try to accelarate.What could be the problem?

I've changed plugs,and air filter.Getting poor accelaration

Voltage readings

Ok heres the deal, I have a 92 couger that is starting to be real tempermental. the voltage reading in the car can go from 9-14. it all just depends on the mood of the car. i have checked the voltage regulator, the altinator, the starter regulator(fender mounted) and all the wires inbetween. WHAT DO I DO NOW????????
