A Pint-sized Performer For Those Who Travel Light. — This was my first venture into the sport compact world, and what a car it was! This Corolla-gone-wild had plenty of zip, incredible handling and great gas mileage...although it was severely lacking in interior space. All in all, a great car for someone who hasn't started a family yet, or as a fun weekend toy for those who have :)

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Fuel economy, reliability, AND performance, all in one package? Only if it's just you, and you don't plan on bringing anything with you.

Cons: No room for... well, anything. No back seats, no cargo space to speak of, and worst of all, no room for obnoxiously loud subwoofers.

Love My 1989 Mr2; I Frequently Forget My Car Is 21 Years Old — I've had 7 MR2s ranging from a '93 Yellow Turbo to my current 1989 NA White MR2. I found that although the 2nd generation MR2s were a bit more roomy inside and slightly quicker with the NA engine, the steering was a bit over- boosted and had less seat of the pants feel than the non- power steering 1st generation. I love the look over the hood of my '89 (like the NSX I owned), the minimalist approach to the interior, comfortable seats, and headroom with the pop- up top. The T-Top set up costs some headroom. And here's the real kicker. I recently sold my 2005 Lotus Elise because it was just too tough to get in and out of, used premium gas, and I always worried about having it breakdown. My '89 MR2 is mechanically rock solid, feels almost as tight on the road as the Lotus with less jarring on rough roads, similar gas mileage but with regular gas, and very similar handling capabilities for a 21 year old car. I'm now doing some minor restoration on my MR2. OK, not the fastest car out there, but lots of fun for what it is. I tried a few MIatas, but liked the MR2 better. The exclusivity of the 1986-1989 model adds to the pleasure of ownership and it still looks great compared to most other pocket-size sports cars today.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Looks, comfort, handling, gas mileage, exclusivity, cost of ownership

Cons: Slightly better acceleration from NA, but once up to speed just fine

Il Keep It Forever — Nice looks, awsome performance in terms of handling on twisty roads. Good acceleration, I race it on autocross and hilclimbs. Love the car, on a fine weather, its fun to drive it without the moon/sun roof. Maintanance is easy, parts are still available.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Drives like a cart

Cons: No power steering but iwho needs it on a real sports car

Toyota Mr2 Supercharger "mara" — I just love this car's acceleration, with the supercharger car pushes 0-60 six point five seconds, Stock condition. Now i'm puttin' in brand new exhaust and modifying the supercharger. 2 racing seats and tanaka 4" belts going in :) I bought this car last winter it had been imported from japan last autumn the mileage is only 90 000 kilomiters and overall condition is very good. I just love driving this car, pushing it on curvy roads and tacling corners in high speeds, it's the best thing i knowl outside bedroom. Car is also very nice from inside it has quite large audio system to compare it's size.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Power, Balance, Aerodynamics and Torque

Cons: It doesn't like snow :(

Well Worth Restoring - Best Car I Have Ever Driven Out Of The Box. — Amazing handling. Could do with more power, but then again the super-charged version's handling is not as good. But the NA is so SO responsive and fun to drive. Wish they didn't rust as much. But once restored - well worth it. Not the most economic car, but then again, on motorway driving - way cheaper than my Fiat Cinquecento 1108cc was...

Pros: Handling

Cons: Rust

The Best Car For The Money. — all around my favorite car to drive. Cheap on gas and still plenty powerful to have fun, handles amazing, very well built cars. Placement of interior features are amazing and logical. Exterior is beautiful and sleek. Solid hard lines that make them look tough.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: High ratings all around.

Cons: parts are expensive. :(

Loved It, Wish I Had It Back — I now have a 2008 Miata MX5. Very nice car, but I think Mr2 outhandles it. Nicer shifter and more comfortable. MR2 was great on the race track. fun to drive, I didn't have cruise control which would have neen nice on a road trip. A larger trunk would help too.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: shifter, looks, reliability, handling, fun times 2

Cons: storage

Best Car I've Ever Had! — I've had my '89 MR2 for 6 years and have enjoyed it everyday since. I was going to buy a new car this year but decided to fix up my MR2 instead. Best thing I ever did. It looks great! I have total strangers talk to me about my MR2 and I've even had two offers to buy it. It handles well and I've had it up to 110 MPH (don't tell anybody).

Pros: Looks great, runs great!

Cons: Sometimes too small.

Mr2's Forever! — Its handling is superb! U can really feel it. It's not that fast, but good enough since I could get any car that's faster, but not the same feel. I especially love to have the t-tops down while cruising on a sunny & breezy day. I just wish someday I can add the infamous 3s-gte engine and get it all tuned up, then it'll be perfect :-)

Pros: rear wheel drive

Cons: engine noise loud!

My 89 Mr2 — Closest thing I'll ever get to an Italian sports car! Not the fastest thing on the road, but handled like a dream. Until my friend spun into a tree. Bought with the front end wrecked, "hood" was tied closed with rope. Radiator didn't survive an ice storm assisted slide into a parking lot curb.

Pros: light, fun, good mileage, great seats, good handling,

Cons: t-top storage, radiator prone to damage, air intake is WAY TOO LONG, almost no storage space
