The car had all available options. Some that were only standard on the turbo models. The ABS brakes, foglights, and storage box are not nprmally found on non-turbo models. The car is a great value, considering the condition, features list and low mileage for a 30 year old car. The car is only missing the plastic under body sheilding in spots. This allowed me to inspect for rust and damage, which I found neither one. It is tough to compare this to other cars considering there are not too many mid-engine, 2 seater, low-mileage sportscars on the market that are affordable. You add Toyota reliability to that and you have no others to compare it to.Apr 22, 2023

Exotic looking ..sort of like a Ferrari, Mid-Engine design provided excellent handling, Very comfortable and well designed interior, Nice open air experience with high quality glass T-Tops that never leaked (and stowed conveniently behind the seats when taken off). Very nice short throw 5 speed shifter and light clutch effort, Very reliable car that only needed oil changes and routine maintenance. Despite the tiny trunk, this was a good daily driver (Except in the snow or heavy rain!)Feb 15, 2013

Excellent car, I have previously owned 4 AW11s and am now living with my 3rd SW20, can't say enough about them. Good performance from 2Litre engine N/A even better with Turbo. Great cruising car especially with T/Tops off (If I had hair would be lovely feeling all that fresh air blowing through it). Lovely lines and curves on this model and truly exhilarating to drive quickly on the straight and even more so round the curves. Very good economy (considering how it is driven) Comfortable seating for my old bones (64+ years) I really enjoy the looks on folks faces when they see me ease my well rounded shape out of this wee beastie!!!Feb 25, 2010

For a 1993 Toyota, the MR2 is quite the gorgeous car. Not just in its appearance, but its power as well. This little car really does go. It turns well (but probably not as well as its brothers: the AW11 and the ZZW30) as long as you can handle it. Since the engine is sitting in the back, the rear of the car might...swing out often if you're not careful. A personal near-death experience can tell you that! But even for a N/A 5S-FE, this vehicle can really kick.Jan 25, 2010

Great car, Good performance, Toyota quality, Excellent handling (really couldn't be better), Quite a range on fuel economy (depends heavily on driving habits). Capable of getting 40mpg with pulse + coasting, or it can get 27 if it's being kept in the powerband frequently. Same 2.2L 5S-FE out of the similarly aged Camry 4cyl. Makes about 135-140hp. Turbo models have the 3S-GE (same as Celica All-Trac [makes around 200hp stock tuned]). 5 speed is geared surprisingly low (higher on Turbo models), 120mph top speed at redline, which places 80mph at 4000 rpm. Exhaust gets loud at 3,500 rpms, so highway driving is loud. Front end can "bob" at high speeds. Handling is exceptional. If driven properly, it will take corners with an Elise, and out turn R34s, Supras, and C5/C6s due to weight. Handling does not feel "planted", however, especially in high speed corners the suspension will give a surprisingly light feel. At high speeds, the car is not nearly as stable because of the weight distribution, light weight, and stiff suspension. Increased downforce (especially front) is necessary to achieve high top speeds. Extreme attention must be paid in cornering to achieve maximum apex speeds. Suspension does a good job of communicating with the driver [mainly through the seat, but also through the wheel (more so at high speeds)]. 1993+ suspension adjustments greatly decrease any "loose feeling" of the rear end caused by the unusual weight distribution (41/59). Front and especially rear sways are a must, along with stiff struts (front and back). Slalom speeds are exceedingly quick. Note: Keeping a smooth line in a corner is very important (especially at high speeds), as any quick adjustments to the front's position will be greatly increased in the rear. This can cause "snap" understeer, which the car is notorious of. This car may just be the best handling car in the world, but if anything it could be the hardest to drive.Jul 10, 2009

the mr2 to is a great two seater sports car, it can be hard to handle in the wet when you first drive one due to it being rear wheel drive and mid engined but once you've mastered that the car is awesome, it goes into corners great, and the acceleration and top speed is superb, and as for its looks it is a gorgeous low down speed machine, it is a little juicy to run as it is an import, and so likes the expensive fuel, Jul 30, 2008

Very reliable, handles amazingly, and is absolutely GORGEOUS- especially with the 18-inch titanium 5zigen rims. I can't even begin to tell you how many times someone has mistaken my car for a Ferrari. The only thing I don't like about my car is the straight line performance, because my car is the non-turbo model. However, I'm going to be getting a turbo swap done by ATS Racing soon, so my car will end up doing 0-60 in about 5 and a half seconds. Not bad. Even without the acceleration , it's a fantastic car. You do the math: 2 seats, 5-speed, mid-engine, rear-wheel drive, dual exhaust, and the ability to turn heads EVERYWHERE.Jul 29, 2008

I bought this car 3 weeks ago, it's excellent. The 17s are too big, the brakes are worn a bit, but it looks great with the Ferrari proportions, handles well with the mid engine set up, and even gets me 28mpg. Best value for a vehicle I've ever spent. It handles well and is very underrated when it comes to performance. Build Quality is excellent, especially considering I'm the 4th owner and it came with 12 years of service records and maintenance. Appearance is great, though it does need a paint job. I prefer Steel Gray Mist anyway. Cost of ownership - 28mpg, easy on insurance. Very fun to drive. I just wish it had a small v6 instead.Jul 28, 2008

The MR2 is a beautiful car. Especially the sw20. With smooth lines and a great motor, this car is able to hold its own against more expensive cars. The 3sgte is almost bulletproof and the stock ct26 turbo is decent. The handling is where it is at. The mid-engine layout is ideal for diving deep into corners. Inexperienced drivers beware! The handling maybe a bit fidgety for some!Mar 29, 2008
