1992 MR2 GT coupe
Car runs until warm then stops. wait 5 min and restarts for a minute or two. Have replaced igniter ECU and coil. ignition fault indicated on CEL. Anyone experienced this and can help with solution? thanks

The 1992 MR2 did not see any notable changes from the year before, when it was completely redesigned.
The 1992 Toyota MR2 came in four trims: the coupe, the turbo coupe, the T-bar, and the turbo T-bar. The regular engine was a 2.2-liter, 130-horsepower four-cylinder. In Europe the regular engine was the 156 HP 3s-ge. The turbo charged version was 2.0-liters and offered 200 horsepower. It came standard with a five-speed manual transmission, but was available with a four-speed automatic. The 1991 MR2 was rear-wheel drive, with the engine mounted behind the seats. Fuel economy was about 20/27.
Those who drive the 1992 Toyota MR2 love the car for its peppiness, and say it handles well and is fun to drive. It gets good gas mileage for a sports car, and driving enthusiasts like the rear-wheel drive. However, some owners do have trouble with rust, and some have had leaks with the T-bar roof. Some drivers also experienced a loss of traction in the rear tires, which can be quite dangerous for drivers who are not used to rear-wheel drive vehicles.

Performance: Just right, Slow enough to cruise but quick enough to be a bit of fun. Brakes very good, handles nicely.
Build Quality: Very Good.
Appearance: Very Nice.
Cost of Ownership: Seems thirsty but that is down to small fuel tank.

apperance, you have to love this colour it is such a nice blend of blue and green, also very sporty
cost - it cost alot to buy, alot to insure and averages 20mpg so expensive to run aswell, also parts are expensive as its a jap import

Gotta love this car, It handles good, if it was a turbo model... this thing would fly... but an N/A is still fun ha ha, If you push this car hard... eventually you'll need to change parts... like any other car ha ha, I love the way it looks, Drives wonderfully :DApr 22, 2010

It looks great and drives great it is one of those
styles
that I don't think will get old for a while. 65k Zero
repairs so far. Handles gerat as long as you keep it
out of snow but I would think snow tires would help
this a lot. Need more power to keep up the newer
cars but still holds its own as I have never driven

long live my mr2 tubby !!! i miss u man the power output was bout 300hp the drive was excellent accept handling was abit drifty but all guud.
Performance: 300hp ?0-60 in about 4.5s
handling: starndard with strut bar top and underneath the car at rear n billestein suspenstion the car had a lot of oversteer u skid and aqua plan due mid-engine layout.
braking: ebc all round brake pads (red stuff)
Engine mods: ct26 hybrid turbo twin entry, greedy oil filter, apexi intake system, hks cambelt and manual boost controller.
Interior: momo steering wheel, leather door panels, boost gauges, turbo timer, kenwood double din player.
Apperance: abflug rear and front bumper, gandenor mirrors, enkei racing alloys with falcon z type tyers.
Cost of ownership: £3000 yearly includin insurance n maintance n fuelage

Needs some maintenance in terms of weather seals and car covering beauase the paint starts to fade easy. Acceleration is what it is famous for and top speed could be better with turbo mods. Appearance is...Ferrari for people who don't much about older sports cars or cars in general. Cost of ownership can be horrible if you abuse this car. The speed, the sound, the looks. The solid engine is great for modifying, where easy gains are to be had. Fairly rare at the same time and does not go wrong, well yet. 25mpg, 250hp, great mid-engined rear wheel drive for peanuts.Jul 16, 2009

Its my baby and I love it more than you. Its my never ending money pit. I hope to be able to run 12 seconds in the quarter mile. It will be my daily driver when I get it running right. T3/T4 turbo, fully forged internals in rebuilt engine, SMIC, water injection, 3" exhaust, Ksport coilovers, and more. I'm guessing around 270 whp for now. When I get some money to upgrade the fuel and ECU I should be able to get around 400 whp.Jan 28, 2009

drives well easy to drive. looks like a fiarrari even thou its a poor mans. handle well round corners glues too the road even at high speeds.get loads of extras to jazz them up eg kits, spoilers . the non turbos drive just as good as turbos fitted. not bad on fuel Sep 15, 2008

under-rated four cylinder car in its class. since its a toyota, it is very reliable for a 15yr + car. GREAT POOR MAN'S SPORT CAR. it does 100km /10L, good on fuel but drinks engine oil like nothing haha

The toyota mr2 t-top model is a very sporty car that's great for both teenagers and adults. It is an excellent summer car when you have the ttops down, very fun to drive whether you have buddy with you or even by yourself. though egine is not very powerful, the car's weight makes up for it and engine in the middle just gives it great performance. The motor is getting an upgrade as the standard 2L toesnt do it fot me any more, I am putting a 3s-gte motor in wich is a turbo motor capeble of almost 160kw standard on the flywheel. The interior is stil stock standarde wich is good enough coz it has a real sporty feel to it. The wheels are a set of 17" momo's that I had imported to fit the car, in the front it runs on 205/45/17 anr the rear on 215/40/17. Most fun car I have ever owned. Nothing takes a corner quite like a mid-engine RWD car. Not many options on these but its a 2 seater sports car, so you can't expect much for creature comforts. This car comes with two different engine options. One a 2.2L naturally aspirated engine, and the other a 2.0L turbocharged engine. Both models are fun but the real fun and tuning potential comes from the 2.0L engine. Highly recommend to anyone who knows how to drive, and I don't mean just anyone with a license.Mar 14, 2008

Why does the fuse blow when switching the side lights on.
